Anyone ever wonder what these cars will be like to own in 20-30 years?
Many people don't seem to own modern Porsches for more than a few years, but I see a lot of 20-30 yr old 911 looking good still on the road. I think Porsche even likes to tout the number of old cars still out running strong. I always wonder though how owners will deal with ebrake modules, FAL, PDCC etc, many components of which have a hard time making it through even the basic warranty period. Who is going to fix these things? Will you be able to order the parts from Suncoast/Pelican or will the dealers just have free reign to, well you know the rest. The bodies with their modern coatings and paints should hold up well, but the electric components....

I wonder the same thing. GT3s are pretty simple relative to Carerras. No turbos and plumbing, no active aero, no pdcc, no lane change assist, smart cruise, lane keep assist, keyless entry, night vision and all the other modern gadgetry. MT cars even more so, no pdk brain electric diff, hydraulic systems etc. Only thing I think will go bust even with proper care is FAL if you have it. RWS is another I wonder about but havent heard of many issues on that system yet.
Big questions are how the electronic brains age? I assume the body shells and structural compents are well protected and will last a long long time.

Funny enough, when computers came to cars everyone thought they would be the weak link and would be terminal to the vehicle when they got old, but they are the most reliable component in the vehicle it seems. (knock on wood). And companies make plug and play replacements as needed. FAL is a pretty basic system as is the e-brake actuator. And both could be deleted or replaced with aftermarket easy enough. My concern would be the engine and transmission. Price out a rebuilt 3.6 out of a 993 and it is near the value of the car, I am sure a GT 4.0 will be megabucks.
What kills old cars is lack of value or popularity. As long as the value of the car is there, parts will be there to keep them on the road. They will be expensive, of course.

Not so sure I care really. Think I will be looking at grass roots from below and not grass from above. But bonus if from above if I have not joined the car with a wall at a track. Do not want to suddenly become stationary.

I think the 991.2 GT3 will be fine in 20 to 30 years. I am sure some minor things can fail. I am more concerned about the 992 with all the additional tech, the display screens and overload of electronics.

For starters, high revving, naturally aspirated cars like this will not be offerings to even available to buy new.
There’s your market right there.
Everything else will fall right into place. Parts will break, people will fix them.

Talk about a non realistic topic. Dont worry about this. You will not be using a car. Everyone will be going everywhere on high speed trains. Gas/Gas stations and cows won’t exist in 20 the years. What rock have you been under since you havent heard of and dont support the green new deal? Smh. Yes im joking

30 years takes to the end of regular IC engines with everything electric or at least motive power will be- whether generated from a fuel cell, battery or??? And autonomous vehicles will be more or less the norm, so yeah, these things will be dinosaurs and people will still love them, but like we love horses- not as regular transportation.
