Actually after 5 deaths Audi had to recall the TT to install a spoiler. Cars were loosing control in straight lines at speeds over 110mph, there is a video somewhere.

So no, it’s not a gimmick, the car needs a spoiler,

Really? You’re comparing two totally different vehicles. You’re not presenting a need for spoiler on a Cayenne because a Cayenne has been losing control but because a different car may be.
To say a Porsche Cayenne needs a spoiler because an Audi TT does is like saying a polar bear needs a sweater in winter because hairless cat does and, they happen to both be animals.

Not sure why everyone’s getting their panties in a bunch. This article is rather vague. It could be as simple as now the RS models will have a manual option and/or there will be two RS power plant options. (One hybrid, one just NA)
And the article specifically stated only more 911 GT variants. It didn’t say that Porsche was going to start doing GT versions of the Macan, cayenne, panamera, etc.
just relax everybody.

indeed. I have out gunned plenty of 991 turbo, GT3, GT3rS in my beat to hell pepper tt.
when and in SF downtown traffic I put two wheels on the sidewalk down Montgomery... no GT variant can out run me. you should see the face on the police.

is this like BMW "M Performance" or Benz "AMG on everything" line?
It is great to hear Porsche will continue with NA and pump out GTs, but I am a little hesitant to see a GT badge on every 911 trim-- it sounds to me they are doing the M Performance/AMG equivalent; diluting the product.

Just imagine a speedster, a manual gt2, a gt4 and gt4 rs and a car for everyone that wants one while having smaller production numbers for each than previous 991 GT cars. How can anyone not like it?

old news
Porsche already started this trend with the 991 generation , mostly with producing more GT cars and adding touring variant
large companies usually when they have a certain policy like in this case : sale expansion. That policy will go for several years before they reevaluate and readjust if needed
so this means more GT cars built and more variants to appeal to a larger group of people
it will affect resale , but at the same time a smart customer will adjust entry point, so we have to negotiate harder when buying
and will see threads like
I just came back from my dealer, I ordered 992 GT3 GR and got 10 % off MSRP ,

The Panamera weights 4,400lb, the Cayenne Coupe 4,660lb
The Audi TT article was to show you that the spoiler is required in straight lines, not twists, to stabilize the rear axle at high speed. It doesn't matter what vehicle it is...it's physics.
The reason for Porsche Active Aerodynamics is 1) Downforce 2) Fuel Economy 3) Braking
That's why Porsche decided to feature it on the new Cayenne Turbo (non coupe)
I take it you have never driven on European highways... Italy? France? Spain? Eastern Europe? Not talking only about Germany. Slow "left lane" drivers do not exist... they get wiped. People drive fast, and SUVs have to follow the same aerodynamic laws as any other vehicles...

I like the look of the cayenne coupe, they had to build to compete with the x6/gle market. I'm glad they'll make ore variants, the more the merrier and it may be a way to send a signal to dealerships about adm...

All i got out of those two articles was that Porsche would be making more GT variants, and sticking with NA engines for some models. Oh, and nobody was responsible for editing that second article.
