Default Watch out

I got the call from my UK dealership to say I'm in line for one of the last round of GT3 RS cars due this summer. However, they said I have to buy the accompanying watch, which is £7k.

This is the first I've heard of this plan and they've had my deposit for over 5 years.

I am an anti-ADM person. What should I do?

Is anyone else in the UK being asked to stump up for this?

The dealer said don't worry you can easily sell the watch on for more than you paid for it but I can't see any evidence of that on eBay. Anyone with watch experience know what they're likely worth?

Smells like a dealer scam to me.

Wow! That's a new one. At least with the ADM you can forget that you paid it, the watch is a constant reminder of the ream job!!

tell them with the potential Brexit effect on the economy either if it goes through or not, they have to give people the watch for free to move the cars

Porsche came out with a numbered limited edition watch to celebrate Rennsport about 18 months ago and last I checked they still have some available. Porsche watches have not been a great investment in general.

Buy the car, short the watch.

Even if the watch ended up being worth zero, the car would be worth far more than the £7k paid for the watch the moment you drove it out of the showroom due to UK rhd GT premiums being very significant. First world problem and all....

That's true. But I'm going to keep it for at least two years and put loads of miles on it so not expecting to make a profit. If I was going to flip it then I could see it as fair for the dealer to get a slice of that easy money.

But my point is if you wanted a car otherwise in the secondary market, it would cost you far more than £7k. EU lhd cars due to a quirk of Porsche refusing to charge more for low UK currency rates are also at list far more expensive than UK cars. If that's the deciding factor whether you get a car or not (whatever your use for it, to drive, to flip etc it doesn't really matter), tbh I'd just thank my lucky stars that's all the extra I have to pay.

I'm like some of the others on here and don't like ADM or bungs or whatever you call it as a matter of principle. The opposing view is of course something like screw it, capitalism sets the market price etc. but I don't agree with that unfortunately.

If the dealership makes, say, 50% mark-up on the watch I would rather leave them £3.5k in a brown paper bag.
