then you simply must own a GT3 - that's all there is to it - there will be _NO_ regrets given your description above - there is NOTHING like it on the market - you will be thrilled.

Had a 2009 Carrera S although not my daily. Used to track 4-5 times per year and I wanted more. Considered mods to S but it would never be a 3. Then got a 997.2 GT3 and BAM! Was hooked. Amazing car. The go cart like feel (now this was a 997) was fantastic along with the motor. A huge smile on my face every time I drove it.

Word of caution. Be careful as it could become a slippery slope. I am still in rehab and don't think I'll ever recover; my wife thinks I'm hopeless having since moved to 991.1 GT3, 991.2 GT3, 991.1 RS and soon 991.2 RS. Not a flipper. Just like driving the latest Porsche has to offer.
Each time I get another my wife asks "is this the last one?" You get the point.

As others have said depends on if you will be satisfied with a bit firmer and sportier ride. Looks like you will. All systems GO for the GT3!!

Yes, I got hooked in 2013 with my first 911 but it was always a fun 2nd or 3rd car. Love them, and was and is my addiction.

2013 Carrera S
2015 GT3
2016 RS
2019 RS

I bought a 2014 Carrera S about 4 months ago, but I've already been dreaming about my next 911. What I really want is a .2GT3, but I the economics make a .1GT3 more plausible. I will be going PDK so that others in my household can also drive it, FYI. I'm not interested in the GT3 RS because the look is just a bit "too much" for me. If I do upgrade, I don't plan on making the trade for another couple of years in all likelihood, but I'm the type who likes to establish a goal and then take steps to achieve it.

Anyone make the move from a carrera S to a GT3? Do you think it was worth the extra money, or did you regret it?
bought a 2014 CS July 2015
sold it October 2014 with 1200 miles , and ordered a 2015 GT3 and never looked back
though caution : .1 GT3 led to . 1 GT3RS
.1 GT3RS led to .2 GT3RS

sorry for the long post but I thought you guys will enjoy the pictures

Good comments all. Thanks for the warning about the slippery slope into Porsche addiction! At first I thought about a Carrera GTS for my next 911 just so I'd still have the GT3 to move up to, but then I thought I might as well go straight to GT land for my next P-car. The price is pretty much the same for a used .2GTS and a .1GT3 anyways.

Also, great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I know you made great memories with each one of them on your path to addiction

As the saying goes, just do it

In the modern era, I went from a GT4 and a 981 Boxster to a 997.2 Carrera S and then a GT3 Touring.

We still have a couple of air cooled cars hanging around and a F250.

Yes the GT3 is my DD it is loud and the front lip is low even with the FAL engaged. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner

We’ve had the GT3 Touring five months and my wife still hasn’t noticed the switch from the 997.2 to the GT3, same color, because she really doesn’t care.

BTW: We had a 981 Boxster for a bit and my wife drove it for a few months while her car was in and out of the shop, but preferred her VW Beetle Convertible. She will not drive any of the current p-cars but she will drive the F250, figure that one out
When the last of the new Beetles hit the showroom she wanted an new car, all I asked her was what color? It was more difficult replacing her bug than acquiring a GT3 Touring

OP: You’re screwed. Now that you have the GT3 itch, you must find a way at some point to scratch it. Warning - it’s way rougher to ride in than you current car. I just went from a year in a C2S and there are things about it I miss - but I have no regrets at all.

It’s a 911 with a great sound and firmer ride, unbelievable power. My S cabriolet was fine, fun, nice to drive. But really had no engine. A subdued sports car I guess. The GT3 is a completely different experience. If you’d like the experience then get one.

So does she support you, or do you work for a living?

I did the exact switch from a 2013 991.1 S to 2015 991.1 GT3. Although there were 4 cars in between (E350, Ghibli SQ4, GLE43 coupe, and BMW 550i). I got it 4 months ago, so I haven't driven it much. But I must say the first time I drove it, I wasn't sure if I made the right decision. It is loud, it is not comfortable. I may get use to it. I will report back in a few months.
I also got a winter/daily beater, so I won't be driving this thing everyday. I think that may makes the situation a little better.

The GT3 is indeed a driving event. I had a C4S before I switched to the GT3. Any 911 is a driving event, and fair warning to you is that after the novelty of the "upgrade" wears off, the driving "event" becomes quite similar, familiar, same old same old. For some, the 911GTS may even come out as the better street car.

I track my cars. I ended up modifying the C4S extensively to make it a track car, so moving to the GT3 was a no brainer. The GT3 absolutely shines on the track, and I will most likely upgrade to an RS when budget allows. BUT, for street driving, even canyon driving, I would go against the current trend here and suggest you go with the 911GTS or 911TT. IMO, for your usage, you will appreciate them better than the GT3. Now, if you have plans to track, that's a different story.
