It blows my mind the people who buy these cars spend 10k a year or more on vacations, 50k on kids schools, 30k on absolute bull****, unnecessary clothes, cosmetic procedures, concerts, events, anything and everything you can imagine, but still worry about losing 20k on a amazing car they get to enjoy for a few years. i just dont get it
It's cognitive dissonance. About five years ago there was an incident which caused oil prices to spike for a few weeks in my area. Especially hard hit was 93 octane which rose about 50 cents a gallon within a week, and was priced about 60 cents more a gallon than 89 octane. So while I was at the gas station, I saw what appeared to be a new S class MB coupe pull up to the pump next to the one I was using. I complemented the owner on his car and he reciprocated by complementing my Porsche. He told me that he custom ordered his car and took delivery two months ago. So what he did next astounded me. He selected 89 octane. I politely asked him if 89 octane was recommended for his car, and he told me that 93 was recommended but a couple of tankfuls of 89 wouldn't hurt the engine. He saved about $9 by using 89 octane. When I got home I checked the MB site, and his car stickered in the $135K - $140K range. So I suppose he believed that every dollar counts.

The reason I can justify buying it is because it is a bargain in the super car segment. Again, name another super car as remotely amazing as the CGT for under 1m; it doesn't exist. Why is it under 1m?: because they made 12xx of them and a boat-load of that production came to the US. So, until it makes sense to export them, it's not at all hard to find a $750k GT silver sub 10kmi CGT. And yes, it was wise to pick one up any dip they've had. Eventually the amazingness and uniqueness of the car will overcome the supply.

Yes to your answer ,they made a little over 1,300 F-40's way more than the F-50 and Enzo. The Ferrari world as you probably know is much different than Porsche when it comes to the value and pricing of these earlier cars. Many times the rationale is hard to understand except that they all look beautiful.

I think RS going tt will keep it from depreciating much but too many across 991 cycle for it to ever be scarce enough to make them really rise in value. On a different scale, the CGT, as amazing of a machine as it is can't really rise like some of its comparable super cars because of the number in N America. You need both elements: supply and demand to make a car appreciate. Next RS going TT will create demand but you can't change the supply side of the equation and it is off the charts high across all 991 GT's.
They made so many 991 GT, it's even having an impact on older GT/RS cars imo.

LFA is a formidable piece of engineering but I like diane lane/k hepburn ; grace jones or cat woman (brads ex forgot name) not so much. but LFA is good no doubt.

Nope. No new FGT inbound. Content with my RS and ‘05 FGT. The 05/06 Ford GT is an amazing car on many levels and timeless. An important “moment in time car”. Much like the CGT.
