Rear Seats in my Touring... Yes, it is doable.

Like the prosecutor will ask you while he holds a DOT certificate in his hand, and you are on the stand..."So, Do you have one of these?"

then the problem is sorted.

Anxiously waiting to see what they come up with. I had a fight between my boys yesterday for this reason. The lack of back seat is the only thing I don't like about this car.

Actually a smarter move might be get a 997 GT3 and put the back seat in it--for those it's much easier because it still has the mounting points.

Bumping this again

In the past when it has come to actually getting the work done people have run into various problems. I will be shocked if anyone ever can produce pictures of the latch points getting welded to the frame.

We did the rear seat install on my 997 GT3, as others have discussed above. Worked great.
The lawyer stuff is always overblown. Short of trying to sue Porsche because your modded seat install didn't perform as you'd hoped in a catastrophic crash, I can't think why some random prosecutor would look to charge someone for adding belts and leather pads to the back of your 991. What am I missing? On who's behalf would someone look to claim negligence? Maybe in a kid's-friend's-parents-scenario? If that would be the fear, only put people you are responsible for in the back.

No one will be criminally charged for messing with this stuff. It's just a "get out of paying" card for insurance companies if there was an injury in the back seat for a car listed as not having back seats.
