Sounds to me like something Nicolás Maduro would say......
environmental lobbyists are pushing for a ban of new oil and gas drilling in CA and probably an eventual complete cessation of all drilling. I’d love to see him explain our gas prices if he decides in their favor...

Looking forward to it

Depends. Agree on his looks, articulation, and charm, but he's also really far left as in socialist left, while Obama was more of a pragmatic center left leader. More of the country is classified as independent than as a member of either the Democratic or Republican parties. Independents are the swing votes that win national elections while the partisan sheep vote for their party no matter who is the candidate.

I voted for Obama the first time he ran for president, but I'd never vote for a socialist like Newsome, AOC, Sanders, Fauxcahontas, etc.

no disputing it's a juggernaut CA

https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/ar...ance-and-italy

Just about every measure of growth shows that the Golden State is peerless among developed economies for increasing population, expanding gross domestic product, improved joblessness, rising personal income, investment in innovation, and wealth created by its stocks and bonds.

That's just because silicon valley and hollywood happen to be located in CA. If you eliminate those two enormous industries that were founded in CA by chance, you'd have a much less rosy and much more accurate perspective on the real California economy, outside of those two.

That Bloomberg piece is a very carefully worded article that borders on a Clinton speech.

Population is the largest. Poverty is the greatest. Welfare is the greatest. The real story on job growth...2.0% which is by no means a juggernaut:

It used to be that many people would vote either way depending on the candidate, but today i think both sides are extremely hardened and dug in. Pretty crazy environment.

US News and World Report did a pretty detailed study. Ranked all the states in multiple categories.

- Economy (Colorado #1 - California #4)
- Healthcare (Colorado #9 - California #11)
- Education (Colorado #20 - California #26)
- Opportunity (Colorado #28 - California #46)
- Infrastructure (Colorado #14 - California #38)
- Public Safety (Colorado #27 - California #34)
- Fiscal Stability (Colorado #31 - California #43)
- Quality of Life (Colorado #10 - California #50)

I just hope we don’t lead in population growth. Other cities can gladly take that crown imo.

Prospector Pete bites the dust! Political correctness and erasure of history, even if trivial, continue in California. Like Captain Renault in Casa Blanca, I'm shocked!

I'm just hoping and praying that the next trend won't be CA eco-warriors vandalizing internal combustion engine cars because of all those hydrocarbon emissions.

You can learn a lot about a place by viewing population density per square mile.

1. New Jersey (1,218)
2. Rhode Island (1,021)
3. Massachusetts (871)
4. Connecticut (741)
5. Maryland (618)
6. Delaware (485)
7. New York (420)
8. Florida (378)
9. Pennsylvania (286)
10. Ohio (284)
11. California (251)
12. Illinois (231)
13. Hawaii (222)
....
37. Colorado (52)
50. Alaska (1)

I'm conflicted...I love the California weather, food, and car scene but can't stand the high taxes and politicians.

Well if taxes were lower and politicians were good, the U.S. would stand on it's edge and sink into the Pacific from everyone coming here. The expense and noise keep the place from being overrun.

And traffic/housing weren't a mess so basically-----.

If the taxes weren't sky high, the politicians corrupt/clueless/socialist, and......if the traffic wasn't worst in the country........and housing costs weren't astronomical..............then yes all of the US would move to CA.

BTW, I'm agreeing with you. If WW2 had just finished, there would be no more perfect place in the US than California. In this century, not so much.

Unless you’re highly educated and you have money. Then those categories look very different. QoL is very different here if you have money versus not. For the average person, with median income and wealth, California is the wrong place to live.
