All cars that are imported above $40k and engine capacity of > 3L are taxed at 173% at the port then additional 48% GST and then your local state registration tax which varies between 10%-20%. Thumb rule is you pay 2.5x-3x the cost of the car in the US/EU.

Wow ! For every Porsche sold in India, the lining to the government's coffer is more than what Porsche brings in. What's wrong with this picture ?

Cost of the car as optioned after import duties was USD $350k and after insurance, registration etc the total cost was $430k. Yes, here with the duties and taxes I paid Aventador/812 money for the GT3. Such is life..

I don't think you will cry in the GT3 unless you drive horribly! All my Porsches have been superb and never seem to have trouble. Then again, most of my other sports cars also don't seem to have any trouble - just lucky or perhaps being positive about them. I cancelled all my pre-orders of RS cars after my current RS which is manual when I found out that I could not get a manual transmission anymore in 2010 or so but I still love them all. I've driven various cars in India a long time ago in the 80s. How nice that my dream cars are now actually running around in India as well..... Enjoyed that link from evo that someone posted above.

Yikes! Thats a bunch load of $'s . Agree, if you're going to cry, a GT3 is a fine thing to do it in. My crying in India was done at boarding school in Darjeeling!... St. Paul's. The freezing north-east!

Where do you live and where can you drive?
i have been to India several times and while the roads are bad the drivers are worse. I can’t imagine that your car wouldn’t be scratched and dented after your first outing.
Do you travel with a guard to watch your car when it is parked?
i don’t drive there as I don’t know the actual rules of the road, not the legal rules, but the applied rules.
By the way India is an amazing country, very diverse in cultures and geography, and off the streets the people are especially kind and hospitable. No place like it, anywhere.

Congrats to Op!
I see more Ferrari and Lambo in India than GT3 , depending on the place there are high concentrations of nice cars especially weekends. There are also some nice tracks and highways these days to go at it. otherwise it’s quite limiting , mostly for show.
this guy has a nice collection
