personally I agree with half the people here, its too loud at high speeds for cruising at 80 mph I'm not sure I could do it for more than an hour or two. I'm actually considering trading it in for a GTS Targa so I can just cruise for 6 hrs.
for people considering swapping a GT3 for another Porsche....you can add extra sound insulation to the GT3, by pulling up the carpet as you would for installing a road cage and adding sound insulation to replace what Porsche removed for the GT cars.

My .2 GT3 is fantastic on the highway and I love it. I'm still in break-in, but even so 7000 rpm will dispatch most anything if you want to 'get some space'.

Damn thing is fantastic.

Daily drive this car. .1 car with a .2 PDK-S. First one was a mixer.

The .2 PDK is much more quiet on the street and the highway. When it was brand new I was actually p!ssed off because it was so quiet. I love the grinder PDK with the rattle of coins in an empty beer can sound.

I also have the RSS center pipe. No complaints at all Daily driving her. I can tell everyone here the .2 PDK builds revs faster than the .1 box. I'm 100% certain the .2 PDK cars are a bit quicker than the .1's mostly because of the trans updates.

I've also noticed the MSC2's don't really get much louder with a lot of miles on them if they are wearing evenly. I'm a early 90's Ford Saleen Mustang/ E36 M3 generation guy college age then so maybe I'm just ok with using a GT car as a driver and I also have broken my back twice. I do have the 18ways though.

Drive on boys in good health!

Car works as intended. 65, 75, 85mph in 6th on the highway is no issue.

If anybody thinks it's "too loud" they should have bought a Panemera or BMW 7 series.

"Too loud" for a sports car is like saying the swimsuit model was too hot.

Well, 80 mph is one thing. I occasionally drive mine 500 km one way. Mostly german autobahn where there are no speed limits over extended distances, so I let it fly. When I get out of the car my ears are bleeding. It is very loud, but there is also something about the sound that hurts my ears. It is not a very pleasing sound for long periods of time.

Edit: Oh, and I should add -- I was on winter tires, which add a bit to noise level.
Your trip was my inspiration to take a long 4000 mile trip Houston into the northern part of Vancouver Island Canada. We leave 6/29. I put the Sport Pilot 4s tires on and they are quieter than the Cup 2's. Looking forward to it.

Excellent. We're all hoping for pics.

I just passed 12k miles. It is now our only family car -- better half and dog and I. Thinking about starting a picture thread about that.

I find the Touring to be a great car for travelling.
Often Nina wants to talk about chick type stuff - touchy feely stuff that just has no solution.

Well, a flick of the sport exhaust while engaging the right foot makes it all go away!

How is it? Annoying?, No Issue ?

Thanks

Compared to a 996 GT3 - wonderful.
It's very comfortable - but stiff ride. You can actually listen to music (either engine or radio) or hold a phone conversation in this car.
The 996 GT3, not so much.

There's the difference loud when heard from the outside vs. loud on the inside, and there's also the difference between loudness and vibrations that you feel in the ear drums and chest which many call drone. When I had straight x-pipes on a '06 Ford GT with no mufflers, the car had zero drone, however I didn't get there until I upgraded the supercharger to a 4.0L Whipple. My '14 Viper TA's exhaust isn't as loud as the Ford's but would drone between 2100 to 2500 RPM, so I had to drive in 5th at freeway speed to avoid the drone. In the RS, I find with the side muffler deletes, once over 3000 RPM (73 MPH in 7th), the sound smooths out so it is a matter of finding the right exhaust combination to avoid the resonant frequencies.
I'm currently experimenting with:
-Kilmat/Noico sound deadeners in back of the cars in various areas - rear deck, rear seat back, rear seat bottom, rear seat foot well, rear seat foot bottom, front seat bottom. door panels, etc.
-real delete w/ OEM muffler
-rear delete w/ center delete
-center delete only
-OEM RS ti muffler vs. OEM ss muffler

Here are the guinea pigs...

Noico foam over Kilmat byule

Would love to be able to do both the side and rear delete and hopefully the insulation will help control the drone.

What did you end up doing to the car in terms of sound insulation?
