Exhaust changes for weight loss only
On my .2 GT3, I plan to get a lithium battery for weight loss and I'd also like to modify the exhaust for weight loss. That is where my question comes up. I'd like to drop a decent amount of weight from the exhaust.........but in contrast to many of you guys, I'm fine with the quality and volume of sound from my .2 GT3. So I'm not looking to make the car louder, just lighter. What do you guys recommend? |
When I went thru this on my 997 the best exhaust, no drone I found was Akrapovic sports cup i plan on putting on my rs and touring soon my 997 has absolutely no drone, it makes a little power...had 20k hard track miles with zero cracking it’s expensive, buy worth it if anyone else interested maybe we can get a group buy....I’m buying thru Titan Motorsports when I finalize https://www.akrapovic.com/en/car/pro...49&yearId=5459 |

Side muffler delete is the way to go.

for maxium weight loss, sure. But it would make the car far louder, which is exactly what I’m not trying to do. |

not really a lot louder....under 4’ rpm driving around town is still stock quiet. I did the Soul Performance Side Muffler delete pipes and am extremely happy with Soul. |

Add a set of Dundon headers with cats.

maybe I’m confused. I thought the side mufflers included the PSE components, which controlled the volume to a degree. If you remove the side mufflers, wouldn’t the PSE always be on? |
SOUL valved side muffler deletes with .2 RS muffler here. Sounds close to stock below 4K, animal above. To me the tone of the titanium RS muffler is a little softer and smoother than steel. It enhances the mechanical melodies of the 4.0 very well. It’s also 6.5 lbs lighter than steel |

Akrapovic race center with link pipes, OEM cats and headers. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...446df5769.jpeg No weight left to lose unless you get the titanium headers and 100 cell cats. It’s louder and on all the time but wife and I drove back and forth to South Miami (for DRT) from Palm Beach (160mi RT) very comfortably between 70-90mph and normal conversation was very easy. There is no drone, which is due to unwanted resonances within the cabin, but you do hear the engine all the time. |
