I've stacked two cars before.You end up not driving the top one because it's a pain to get down. And those sports cars ramps are super heavy to move around. Driving becomes a production.
To make room for RS, sell one of the other ones in the garage. Wife will think that's the best idea ever.
I have a bendpak 9 and I just leave the ramps on. Makes it much easier and only takes a minute or so to get the car off the lift.
turn on the compressor and back the lower car out. By the time you get back, enough pressure to release the locks on the lift. Super easy and takes not a lot of time and effort.
Depends on how far back your cross beam is. If you can reconfigure your structure without the cross beam($$$) you could then purchase track extensions and move your tracks closer to your ceiling. Install a side mount opener so you'll have no center track drive. Liftmaster 8500 would do it.

the standard bendpak ramps are a little heavy but they have small rollers on the end which make them pretty easy to move and put on / take off. Leaving the ramps on puts them at an awkward height if you are not paying attention!
I looked at every type of door available when we built our home a couple of years ago. A roll-up door is ideal but they're all industrial looking. The swing-out kind (called carriage doors) are a nice looking solution but they take up ground space somewhere when opened. I'm told that the other problem with these is that while they're operating, if they hit any kind of debris on your driveway, they'll reverse whatever action they're doing. I looked at bi-fold doors and while they're a great solution, they're very expensive.
I would think that as long as the standard radius curved tracks can be used for the two turns, your design will work. I don't know why the door itself would care if it has to turn twice. And a wall mount like the Liftmaster 8500 would be ideal. I have one and it's a great opener - extremely quiet and has an automatic deadbolt.
I added an extension to our pre-existing garage door tracks--kept same garage door but now it rises higher and sits flush to the ceiling. I also added a side mounted garage door opener akin to the Chamberlain unit.This way you maximize space. Our ceiling is roughly 13'. Now we can keep our RS cars together.

Hi’contractor here, often times in projects we do we are asked to raise ceiling height. If the beam is wood , you can reduce the size by at least 2/3 by replacing it with steel I beam to carry the load. Also Sidewinder garage opener may help. Good luck!

Thanks. I assume this would be $$$$$? In fact, I assumed it would be so expensive I haven't even asked. Maybe that was a mistake.

Hi RADONCulous, I'm thinking of doing the same and have gotten quotes of $800 just to raise the tracks by about 18" from a couple garage door companies so I'm thinking of doing it myself with the help of a couple handymen/framers as they are now doing work around the house anyway. Question to you... when you added the extension, how much higher did you go and did you have to swap out to stiffer springs?

Agree. I have the optional aluminum ramps which are lighter. And yes, you have to be careful walking otherwise you will get nailed right in the head.
Use a lift master 8500. It opens the garage from the shaft and you can climb the wall and curl around. I have 2 of them so my garage doors open to the ceiling. They are silent too. Don't have a picture but it is a common good product.
