Default GT3 Euro delivery is finally happening!

After a 5 month delay from our original delivery, it looks like we have a date locked in and travel plans secured! This will be our first Porsche ED and we're pretty stoked with not only the experience (Zuff deliver and all the tours), but the overall 3 week trip!

We booked the air through Porsche and will be flying Delta. While Porsche doesn't have any savings in Economy Class over what you can find on the net, their Delta One/First class is a savings of about 50% over what we found, if we booked it ourselves: LAX/ATL/STR and NCE/AMS/LAX. We chose that option. Also, we requested a suite at the Schlossgarten and was approved for that upgrade as well. We plan on arriving the day before, taking delivery at 0930 and leaving the next day. TRAKCAR will be taking delivery right before us, so hopefully, we can get a shot of both cars!

We have a 5.5 hour drive from Stuttgart to Cernobbio, Italy, but will probably cut into that time, since the first 100 miles is on the A81 Autobahn, which just happens to be unrestricted! I'm not planning on bouncing off the redline, but will be keeping the revs limited to about 5K and loading it up for the first few hundred miles. We're estimating approximately 1,400 miles before dropping off the car in Nice.

So the itinerary will have us for a week at Lake Como, Portofino for a couple days, Monaco for a few days, and then Provence for about a week. We'll finish off a couple days in Nice, after the drop off. We'll be staying at a couple nice hotels (Villa D'Este on Como and the Hotel de Paris in Monaco) and an old Roman limestone quarry cave in Provence that was converted by an architect, which should be pretty cool. Hopefully, we can get the car back, in time for Monterey in August, but from what I've been reading, we could ask Porsche to expedite the processing. I'm not sure how this works or even if it's possible, but it's worth asking.

RL has been a ton of help in building this car and planning for the trip and I would not have lucked into one of the last 8 PTS cars being offered for NA without seeing the memo on the PTS thread! The wait has been excruciating, but now that there's light, it's getting more exciting by the day! Can't wait!

Details:
MY19 PTS GT3, V270 02/08
M9Z Carbon Grey Metallic
PDK, PCCB, buckets, lift, deviated stitching (Bordeaux Red), red gauge cluster, black wheels, LED PDLS, a few other bits!

Any further advice would be appreciated!

Exciting!! Some 20/20 hindsight’s from our trip:

1. It’s not as much fun picking up your car when you’re jet lagged. We did PEC, so that involved track driving first thing!
2. Looks like you’re not driving a ton in three weeks- that’s good, we had too much point to point driving and not enough smelling the roses and just cruising
3. We would skip Provence for more Alps- but that’s just us. The cooking class was excellent, the surrounding area not so much.

Have fun! And make sure to take us along!!

Hope our trip is as awesome as yours! The Alps would have been on the agenda, were it not for the closed passes. Maybe next time!

Mrs. Smithee and I will be doing a shortened driving version of your trip...Lake Como (Il Sereno) to Portofino (Splendido) to Monaco (HdP) for the GP. Was hoping to start with pickup of a GT3 in Zuffenhausen, but apparently Porsche doesn't want my $200k, so f'em.

How long will your car be sitting at the factory prior to delivery? Do they have a time frame in which delivery must happen after completion?

Similar for sure! You'll have better weather than us and the road into Portofino should be open by then (estimated at end of April). It'll be an incredible time to be there. On the drive to Monaco, we're visiting Dolceaqua, right before the French border. It's not too far North of A81 and afterwards, we're crossing the border from the coastal road and doing the Grand Corniche into Monaco.

Il Sereno is a very nice property and was on our short list, but we wanted "old world." Did you hear about the fire at HdP? One of their newly opened suites caught fire and it was a huge production, but luckily it was limited. There're some pretty dramatic footage of the flames coming off the roof. Are you going to Le Louis?

Car was done on 02/08, so a month and a half. I believe it's 3 months...

I had not! Will be sure to specify a non-smoking room...

Not big fans of French food, so probably not going to Le Louis.
