*update to the original post

Apparently the dealer forgot to tell me that it had an aftermarket exhaust. During the PPI I discovered it has a Sharkwerks center muffler delete. They do not have the OEM center muffler. This is good because I don’t have to buy an exhaust, but bad because I was leaning towards a full header and side bypass setup and now don’t have a center muffler. Thanks for all the advice. I guess I will keep my eyes open for a OEM center muffler.

I am aware of the Dundon full exhaust, does anybody else make as much horsepower or are they the king?

John,

Is your race system catted or catless? Any details or do we need to wait for the release?

Is there an exhaust that can unlock the sound character between 0 and 4k rpm without increasing the volume/dB and the drones/booming ?

We have a new one coming in....welcome to the neighborhood! DJCXXX on here has this setup and said it's not crazy loud. So will hold him accountable for my purchase

I'm hoping it's not nuts. I currently have a Sharkwerks centre and Cargraphic sides on my 997.2....and looking for louder than that setup. I thought GT4 stock could be louder as well when I had that.

Went with the link pipes to save weight and heat and for a bit more volume than just a centre bypass.

Nope.

Not mechanically possible.

indeed some dB but you ve got the point

an old school 911 will sound better within 0 and 4k rpm without being louder.than a 991

why not the new generations ?

i.e. removing only the cats while keeping the mufflers could be a solution?

That right there is a very insightful observation. Freeing up some restriction while maintaining both the factory side and center mufflers could potentially meet this goal with little drawback on the drone/resonance. Headers only does this quite well on the Boxster/Cayman platform. That said, there are very few people that have tried this on the GT3s. Most headers on the market are tailored towards maximizing power and more than often will not fit the factory side mufflers as they include custom side muffler bypass pipes as part of the package, Dundon the most popular of those. Headers are also quite expensive, and with few exceptions companies aren't going to allow you to return them if you don't like the sound. Not too many people are up for the calculated risk. There are only two companies with the workmanship and customer service that I would ever consider recommending that make headers for the GT3 that fit the factory side mufflers, JCR (catless only) and Kline.

Erik and fxz, if you guys are up for an experiment and can arrange with Johnny (JCR) or Sam/Felix (Kline) for a used set I think it would be a nice comparison for the rest of the community. Heck you two could split the costs and have one of you install on the car and see if it does what you'd like it to do. Food for thought

So.... You want better sound and more power but don't see the value in 3x the cost a rear delete?

$2K budget for said goals = wrong car.

I don t know who is you

personally i want much better than stock crap sound (due to regulators) between 0 and 4k rpm

i do care less for power 500 is enough

i have already a 200cells headers but not yet to the point i want

i'll give a try with 100 but i guess is more on pipes lenght and diameter to fix a 0 to 4k rpm without going too loud or too drones

unfortunately all exhaust manufacters get mad to get 5hp more (1%...) than giving back the old school sound character

usual i have it longer biz case story

The only way i have been able to get better sound and a little more volume is by disconnecting valves combined with my GRP Bypass.

I just finished getting the sharkwerks center bypass install and eliminate the valve so the the exhaust is open all the time .... and I’m so happy makes the car so much fun to drive!
Who ever wants a louder exhaust is crazy......
In a good (psycho) way!!!!!
