Market wise, most people want buckets and those cars tend to have an easier time selling.

Seat question comes up a lot. Surprises me. Seems buyers would have a clear preference. It's not like the feeling of the 18-ways and the buckets are all that close. Changes the driving experience fairly significantly IMO (having had both).

If it's purely a value thing, the purchase stats paint a clear picture of what the market wants. So not too much question there either.

The real question ought to be why we can’t convince Porsche to allow us to spec a new car with two sets of seats. I tried. Swapping them in and out is trivial and I have done the research regarding the wiring harnesses and module coding, so I believe I know what can and cannot be done, and how easily. As near as I can determine, this is simply a matter of wanting to preserve the astounding retail price of purchasing the second set of seats after build through the dealer network. Other manufacturers will sell two sets of seats at build time, and they will sell them at build time cost. Porsche is being perverse on this point so far as I can tell. It would obviously obviate the resale issue for those who have two sets, if that matters.

My preference would be to swap out my LWCBs in my GT3 Touring for 18-ways, so I would be most interested to learn what you now (PM back if you prefer) about the 'wiring harness and module coding' procedure...would love to share it with my PORSCHE dealer shop foreman before making a significant investment. Also, have you - or know someone - who has done this swap successfully or just the technical research and not actually done. Thank you.

My feelings exactly. I also found the 4 ways in my GT3 the most comfortable seats of all, If I wanted more support and safety for heavy track use,
I would install the FAR superior and proven safer NASCAR type Bucket seats to protect my head and neck areas.

I would like to see more adjustable buckets as offered in other brands. At least give us the option to adjust the seat back up and down, that would be nice.

I have a new 19 RS with sofas on the way to me in Florida- only want sofas- next owner can change if they so wish. Reason is why I got a msrp deal because dealer screwed up.

if you want the racecar driver fantasy, by all means, order the buckets, but if you realize the reality is that you are a weekend warrior in (an albeit insanely awesome) street car and occasionally on the track and perhaps value comfort a bit more, sofas are fine and still completely functional under high G's. Really a personal choice despite what the dealers tend to order the most.

Plenty good enough for occasional DE and I think surprisingly comfortable.

I do as well. But they aren't available on the RS, which is one of the reasons, I've stuck with my two GT3s

Interesting..Did not know that. My GT3 has the 4 ways and I love them and would be my choice in an RS if available as well.

Honestly

If u track your car and want a safe seat get a halo seat put in

I prefer buckets purely on a comfort level..I owned a c4s w 18!way and sold it they were so uncomfortable

But I have friends who are too big to even fit in buckets, so I see a place for another seat

I'd take a 4 way over a 18 way

Find 4 ways (in my GT3) way more comfy than 18 ways which I frankly found to be the worst Porsche seat. Buckets are comfy once you get in em. Drove 3 hours to Daytona 24hours and my back felt fine.

I’d like to see the data for GT3s that were ordered with sofa seats and what proportion of those buyers chose PDK over Manual. Just interested.

I chose 4 ways and manual on my GT3. I probably need extensive psychoanalysis
