Purchase Advice: GT3 MK1. Please HELP
Hi guys,
i'm seriusly considering to purchase a GT3 991 Mk1, MY16, 10.000 km, registred on 11/2015, with engine code G01014.
As for the Mk1 engine issue, do you suggest it as safe and reliable enough to approach on it?
Any reply or advice are really welcome.

I had the exact same build, G engine is supposed to be the best and final revision for MK1but still has the same issue. The engine is covered by a 10 years warranty and will be replaced if anything happens. I found that Mk1 is more raw and sounds better than Mk2 in my opinion.

Giuseppe thanks for your info.
I supposed that last spec G solved almost every issue.
So nothing changed from the F and E? My fear is to have trouble after the 10 years guarantee, and face a 50k repairing cost for this.
Not sure to spend 125k for a walking dead car, if the mk2 is bulletproof with 20k more.
Maybe be better to wait?

Rob can provide more information on the G engine and the finger followers issue but if you have to wait a year to get a Mk2 just get a .1 and drive it, it really depends on what you're planning to do with the car.

not sure that Mk2 drop to 120/130k in one year, unfortunately.
And my fear also is that Mk1 will dramatically drop down on value for this issue, as I see cars on sales for over 1 year, even tough we are spoken about few G cars affected, it seems 😊

Don’t feed into the hysteria, it’s an incredible car for the price point and you’ll have over 5 years remaining on that engine warranty.
I’m willing to wager once those warranties start to run up you’ll see Dundon or somebody of the likes create a solution to correct this issue... heck, they already started but the extended warranty announcement renders it unnecessary for a few years.
I debated this internally for awhile and it just seemed silly to throw an additional 40-50k on the table for nearly the same car with the 10yr/120k engine warranty in play with many years to go.
I exhaustively followed the .1 market since August, you’ll find that the ones priced correctly certainly don’t sit for a year and now that the weather is getting nicer they’re starting to really move. It’s just so much damn car for 120-130k IMO.

Ton of car for the $$$. Engine issue sucks but mostly (exclusively?) track related.

Grab it now, the G-series engines has proven quite reliable and the extended 10yr warranty is a great sweetener! MY16 .1s are rare... buy it if everything else checks out.

If you found a 10,000 kilometer 2016 for 125k, you need to get it before someone else does! A .1 GT3 is a no brainer with the 10yr/120k warranty.

16's are great buys - enjoy

F engines still have problems, my 2015 car had its engine replaced last month. Moreover, 2 other cars I know that were 2015s had their engines replaced. But porschP are very sensitive about engine replacement, if they open the old engine and see any wear down of components they will replace it.

Its simple, if the engine has a problem, it will fail long before the warranty expires (if you drive the car). So after 10 years, you will ether have a car with a reliable engine from beginning or one with the newest G-engine

I looked into all this but decided to go with the car I did, even with it's E1 engine.
Ultimately the failure mode is a scored cam, so down the line it'll just be a top end rebuild *IF* you get scores from the inclusions.
If it's susceptible to the pumping down effect on the followers you'll experience it in the first 10 years, or I doubt ever.
