THE BIG EASY
As we entered the bridgeway system towards New Orleans we passed through our third rain storm on this segment of the trip from Atlanta Georgia. The light from dusk changed and there was a distant glow of color to the sky that led us into the City
.
A Dodge SRT came up on my side, revved his engine to engage a race. This section of the bridge was wet, narrow and had cement side barriers really making things tight - the guy could have spun while rev'ing his engine, collecting us both.
No Bueno, I backed way off and yielded
I do like Gulf Orange 019 but I am seeing how others are reacting to this color

BEST MEAL AT PASCAL MANALIS
The road to New Orleans was not in our plan. At the last minute we were discussing touring across America and decided we had to visit The Big Easy. A quick call to my old friend and vintage Ferrari mechanic, David Castelhano, who suggested we go to Pascal Manalis for their BBQ shrimp and our trip was altered. Definitely a smart move! He sold us when he described it as a historic family run restaurant, a bit upscale, but traditional local fare.
We were excited, but David had forgotten to mention how wonderful the oysters were!

Louisiana to Houston was very humid for us even though it is February.
We made several stops to see the visitor centers in the swamp but missed the Mcelheney Tabasco mueum

GULF ORANGE IN THE GULF STATES
Entering Texas we pass through the 1,000 mile mark.
Texans love their Cadillacs going triple digits, I had this black one and a red one charge right up on my left with necks cranked to see Gulf Orange 019. They hard braked to slow down for a view and paced me so I felt the need to depart and that is something the Touring does this so well!
The TracWrap has now been through 4 rainstorms and one dust storm, it is looking ugly dirty
The "Shame on You" finger waggle

TRACWRAP SHAME #2 - I LEARN HOW GHETTO THE CAR LOOKS NOW
This is my new friend Dave.
Dave saw the Gulf Orange 019 Touring as we were refueling in Texas and struck up a conversation, asking an honest question
"WHY ARE YOU USING SHIPPING TAPE TO HOLD THAT BUMPER ON WHEN DUCT TAPE WOULD BE STRONGER"
My jaw dropped as I processed the question, my shame turned to laughter as I, once again, explained what TracWrap was....
We had a great conversation, I made him sit in the car and he loved it. Several great chuckles with my new friend - People in Texas are really friendly!
The Silver wheels are no longer silver and the TracWrap is looking tired and dark as we move past quadruple digits on the odometer

As an owner of a Touring myself, having taken delivery over 10 months ago, this got to be the best car I have ever owned/experienced.... I have other 911's (991.2 TTS and GT3 Rs) and if you ask me the Touring is the only car that brings me smiles every time I take it out for a ride.
Have a blast, enjoy your trip and drive !

Stop in San Antonio for some tacos. Here is the spot.

Also the Buc ees in Katy does not have premium ethanol free but the one closer to San Antonio I'm pretty sure does. At any rate if you have not been to a buc ees its like the six flags of gas stations. The one in Katy TX has a 70,000 sf store. Love your car. If you are staying on 1-10 you will drive right by my office. I'll be on the lookout! LOL!

Thank You - I enjoy these trips as they re-introduce you to the landscape and people of America.
Gosh, I love your Rest Stops; seriously clean, stylish tile and well maintained. (Not so in OR or WA where Rest Stops are a homeless depot).
Prior to the trip I was claiming to Nina that West Texas was anticipated to be the most dangerous part of the trip as the boredom can cause fatigue - flat and straight would add boredom and tire.
Boy was I wrong.
Two Cadillacs passed me at "Super Extra Legal" speeds just West of Houston bound for San Antonios, their tractor bean somehow engaged me and we killed some serious bugs.
Similar rabbits West of San Antonio made the drive convince me of how fun the Touring is in West Texas - the Perfect car in fact!

Beautiful car and great story.
I did not realize there was a mini-museum in Atlanta. I drive through Atlanta often, but I usually try to schedule to past Atlanta before I stop for the night, so I'm never there during business hours. I may have to schedule an extra day one time.
