997.2 GT3 RS + 981 GT4 or 991.2 GT3 RS

hi guys,

which combination do you think is more fun/exciting and better value in the long run?

I own a clean 997.2 RS and like it a lot for the special feel it delivers every time.
But i dont want track it to much or add to much miles for less special rides.
So i thought add a 981 GT4 to my 997.2RS or sell the 997.2 RS and get a 991.1 or 991.2 RS and use it more.
First world problem ;-)

i would like to read your experiences/opinions.

You would use more a 991.2 RS than the 997.2 RS? Wouldn't you feel the same about not adding miles etc.? Not sure I understand

evilfij 02-16-2019 03:01 PM

I would not sell a 997.2 RS.

It would be an ideal garage to have 997.2 RS and GT4. I would be happy happy ;) :)

My rule is that if i don't want to put miles on something I own, i sell it and buy something I am comfortable with and want to drive. I've just learned that owning something I'm worried about depreciating brings me anxiety; not joy. That being said, over the years, my threshold for cars i feel bad about driving keeps moving: unless it is a super-low-mile-time-capsule LE car, I'm gonna want to use it as much as I can (and i just won't buy the time capsule car that I'm scared to use).

My advice is to maintain and take good care of the 7.2, but drive the wheels off of it. It's a robust car. The guy that racks up 10/20/30kmi on a 7.2rs is the one that wins. Add a second car that gives you diversity. Add a modern pdk. 7.2rs and some kind of 991 GT with pdk is an awesome and diverse combo to have.

I agree. I've owned a 997.2 GT3 and a GT4. Ive spent a fair amount of time in a friends 997.2 RS. When people refer to a car as engaging I always think of the 997.2 RS. If I had one I'd keep it. Get a GT4 and give Jamie a call at Dundon. You'd be amazed at what a few bolt on parts will do to a GT4.

Same here - -

What about just adding a 911 GTS or something?

Metzeger 02-17-2019 12:38 PM

i would prefer a GT car because a little bit tracktime.

I would add the GT4...great bang for the buck. I am planning on getting a GT4 this year and I am die hard 911GT guy.

I like that rule. Hard to follow, but a good train of thought.

Keep 997.2 RS . Add GT4

I had both now have 991.2 GT3 after trading GT4 in. Jury is still out as not enough backroads miles. If GT4 could have GT3 engine I would go back.

997 RS going no where

odwa 02-17-2019 05:47 PM

GT4 with GT3 engine is certainly the ticket, one can only dream.

997 and gt4 all day long
but I’m an accumulator !!

right on

1. sell me the 997RS cheap, buy whatever else u want
2. low mile so you don't want drive. many ppl are like that. I don't understand. I find a young girl, I want to be the first. I am not afraid to ride the fresh ones' I sure as hell not going to saVe her for the next cowboy. I say that with a straight face. I try to buy new, when I have to buy used, I buy the cleanest lowest mile car I can get then I beat the living day light out of it. why would I buy a high miler so I can drive. why not buy a low miler so I can drive more. but I have been told my logic is often strange and incomprehensible. I bought a very low mile cgt and doubled it's mileage in 6 months. friends asked why didnt I buy a higher mile car if I wanted to drive. well hell I like virgins.
