Your pic prompted me to search a bit more... you're right, the sticker is as-raced in 1998, original to the 98-1 Evo.
That rear layout evolved from the 96 (i.e. 993 front & rear) and 97 cars, when there simply wasn't space for the sticker before (hence my earlier recollection that period cars didn't run with it).
But the museum seems to have been a bit tricky here, adding it back to all their display cars at some point. That's when everyone started to notice and began to copy...

Race Car
This is prolly one for history nerds and brand anoraks.
I think this sticker first appeared on the GT1 racecar. But not in period. I've not been able to find "Made in Flacht" on livery photos through the 1998 race year. But somehow that detail started appearing a couple years ago on the museum cars in Stuttgart, initially just on their early strassenversion, and eventually their various 98-Evos. Since then it's been copied, both in official adverts and by others...
Correct/incorrect? Happy to learn...

On a GT3 or GT3 RS, I think that Born in Flacht is better.

Guys, sticker was never ,,official". Part of lower Weissach where some of the final assembly buildings are is actually in the town of Flacht. Just a nice gesture by the engineers and mechanics from the race department back then in the days when things were much more simple and offices were housed in Holzbarracken (equivalent to double wide mobile office trailers)

There's a lot of truth to what you said: most of the motorsport people you come across would tell you Flacht used to be a small sleepy village (and is still relatively so). It would make sense that sometime during the 98 season the guys decided to pay tribute to their town folks and thus that sticker was born...
