Well I picked up my GT3 RS, and the differences over the GT3 are glaringly obvious the minute you start driving. I loved my GT3s, but I have to agree, the RS is the RS. I think the regular GT3 is "prettier" and an amazing car, but oh man is it easy to connect with the RS.

The point of this thread is whether there is such a thing a GT Fever, to get the so called next best thing. The 991.2 RS is awesome. Not that the 991.2 GT3/Touring isn’t. Whether the cost difference is worth it is totally subjective. I can set it up to keep up or even pass a 991.2 RS at with PBIR, Homestead, or Sebring. That is the point. Hence, not necessarily worth the psychological urgency to upgrade. You know what opinions are like, but facts are facts.

Whenever someone in FL wants to meet, at any of those tracks, I’m down. No ego, just for fun, like my posts. No name calling anywhere in my post.
lol you didn’t hit a nerve .... you were making a general statement, don’t try to change what you said to fit the narrative.I don’t even track my gt3rs but I will this year and I’m sure I’ll get better times in my car then just a base gt3! If anyone is trying to make them feel better about there purchase it’s you! I know I got the best na track car that Porsche makes!

ps, I love the gt3 and if I couldn’t afford the gt3rs I would buy one. I prefer the gt3rs and I feel the extra money too me is worth it!

I’ve had Spec Miatas pass me. What’s the point? That a driver can make a huge difference? Agreed. That doesn’t change the empherical facts.

I will say though that racing has completely dulled my desire to upgrade to the highest level of the GT ladder that I can afford. For me street cars are for the street (including my GT3)- I have a race car for the track. Now, do I lust for a Cup Car and the budget to race it- YES!

I want a 991.2 GT3 RS with a manual transmission.
Instead I have both a GT3 and GT3 RS...
Porsche is not dumb.

No doubt an MT is also very enjoyable if you are an “enthusiast”. I agree 100%. PDK RS is like a great chocolate shake but sometimes you want vanilla.

Thats why I bought this little gem.

Haha, the fever is a real thing! My 2 cents: you have to just do it and break the fever, lol.

I don’t think this is about what’s a better car; this is about want and, yes, want. After you give in and experience the latest and greatest, and get this latest crap out of your system, you will realize that what is latest and greatest is no bliss. I call this “growing up” in car terms. I have gone through it myself. Do it, grow up, and buy what makes you smile; it may be the latest RS, or the gt3 touring or an old 964, etc.

Interestingly, for what is is worth, in his 991.2 GT3 video review, Catchpole said that if he had to have a 991.2 GT3 or GT3 RS, he would take the GT3. In fact, he said that if he could choose one car out of all cars, it would be the 991.2 GT3. Sometimes, the demonstrably better car is not the best car for someone's lifestyle or driving purpose.

The problem with the RS is that my left foot has this tendency to fall asleep when not used.

not if you take the time to master left foot braking which with the pdk-s turns whole experience one notch higher

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

^^ this.
If I could, I would do the same. My war chest will not allow it, so it's one or the other. I think about the RS on occasion, so who knows, maybe someday ;-)
