One interesting thing is a lot of people talk about the LWBS for track use, but it seems that they aren't really the best seats for use with helmet and HANS. I personally think LWBS look awesome and feel great but my sense is that real track addicts go with some other aftermarket seat.

The seat hype is something that gets wayy over dramatized - the seats do not dictate the pricing on the car nor the salability of the car. Case in point look at how much debate there is in these threads alone.

Had lwb's in my RS. Found them uncomfortable. Wife hated them. In previous cars I used the older 997 GT2 reclining seat for the driver and left the sofa's in passenger seat for my wife. Ordered my 19 GT3 with 4 ways, but will install Sparco C/F SPX seat for driver with GMG base. Never had an issue with resale on previous cars.

My GT3 Touring has them as did my GT4 before that. I fit in them nicely so that wasn’t the issue so much but rather (for me), driving the car seems like more of an “event” sitting in them and with the Touring in particular, needed them to give it that visual pop given it’s understated GT looks. I’m keeping my GT3 for the foreseeable future and glad I ordered it with them...but all this would tell you it’s what I wanted...not others.

I had 2 GT3's, 1 with, 1 without, 1 RS without and on selling/trading cars, all over MSRP in the good ole days, no one said a word about seats. 90% of 991.2 RS's have LWB's. I think this is one of the oldest discussions on the GT cars.

Back when I traded in my .1 GT3 RS with LWB's, I was told I'd get $10k less if it had Sofa's. I've never heard that comment on any of my winged GT3's and had 2 with Sofas and 1 with LWB's. I prefer sofa's in the GT3 just for the ease of entry/exit and I also get zero complaints from the wife. If you are not tracking it, get the sofa's if that's what you prefer. You will not lose anything or very little on resale due to the seat type.
i disagree. My GT3 had pdk and sofas. Dealer gave me the same price as a friend that had manual and lwbs (we both traded in for 3rs). My car sold in a week for 15-20k over and my friends is still sitting on the showroom 3 months later. What you hear on rennlist isn’t necessarily what the majority of the market thinks. People here are real enthusiasts and a small part of the market. I’ve seen 2 new GT3RS with sofas so far. So I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think it depends on the car. The more specialty/limited/collectible, the more the LWB's come into play. Trying to sell a few hundred copy 997 4.0 or 2rs with sofas is more difficult than one with sofas; it just is. I'd say, even an R potentially even though the ethos of it is lore of a tourer. On a car that has several thousand produced, and is primarily used as a driver, I don't think it matters much at all: the car starts out with an appeal to a larger audience with more diverse set of buyers using the car for a wide variety of applications. Some will want sofas; some buckets. While it would come into play on some cars, I would worry about it as much on a 991 gt3.

We sold our GT2RS because it had the LWB's because we drive our cars and want to enjoy the drive. This was our first car with LWB's. Don't get me work they are great looking seats but not for us. We picked up a GT3RS with sofas and love it. We don't drive the car hard enough to need those type of seats on a regular basis. If we decide we need seats like that I will pick a race seat and swap out the drives seat when needed.

Just bought today a 19 GT3RS with sofas 225 msrp silver black- paid msrp plus 5k to broker. I had done a deal on a GT3 with 50 miles private yesterday at below msrp but lwb- 2 salespeople who know me said I will hate the seats so I broke deal today.

As I get older and a car is going to be used for longer distance driving, I'll relent and spec sofas. I have a 981 spyder right now that sometimes I wish had heated sofas. Dang, the buckets look pretty and they connect to the feel of the car more but sofas are more functional for sure.
