Or, give up 0.5 seconds on your lap time and short shift to 5th gear as you exit t5 and move to the left side of the track. Then shift back down to 3 and move to the right side of the track as you pass under the bridge and set up for t6
How foolproof is this method? Would it still work if your car has a bypass? There's a PCA event at Laguna next weekend I'd like to go to but I have a BBI bypass (so no way to install turn-down tips) and my OEM centre muffler is 1,200 miles away in Vancouver.

I know guys that have done this method of short shift and moving over for years and it has worked flawlessly for them. None of them have a center exhaust bypass though, so I can't say what that will do.

I tracked Laguna last month for the first time in my new to me .1 GT3. My car has the track nanny installed and turn away pipes, OEM side mufflers and a Sharkwerks bypass. It was fine most of the day but as I got faster in the later sessions I did blow a 93 in the 4th session. After that I backed off a little and kept it under 7000 RPM in 3rd and was fine for the last 2 sessions. It was fairly cold all day and there was a strong wind blowing straight across track out at 5 towards the booth all afternoon so it really was the worse scenario for sound. I think it's safe to say one is right on the bubble with any kind of CMB even with the track nanny and sweeps.

Ah, ok. Not sure it's worth risking the drive up from LA just to get black flagged right away.

Thanks for your replies!

I'm driving from Vancouver to SF this Sunday, so I could bring your exhaust to SF if that helps (assuming it fits in the back of a GT3 with buckets but no cage).

Max,

Just saw your message now. Very kind offer; I sincerely appreciate it (CJ as well). Fortunately I think I am sorted locally.

Hope you have a safe drive down!

I still had a blast with lame 91db because Laguna Seca is Laguna Seca.... I will going to Sonoma this weekend with 103db which I am pretty thrilled about...

I didn't notice anything on the other thread. Your car passed without Track nanny and/or turn downs?

thanks

my ‘15 & ‘18 GT3 have both past sound with the Dundon quiet center muffler - 3 other gt3’s with gps and turn downs all failed to pass sound on march 15th on a 92 DB day - only my gt3 with the quiet muffler was able to pass sound on this date

That’s odd... GPS plus turn downs should blow about 88-89 dB. Did they add another sound booth?

I'm going try to make it out to the 103db PCA GGR event at Laguna Seca in July.
