Hi, I also went with obsessedgarage recommended lights and bulbs. I had four bays installed but had them wired on two separate switches. First pic is natural light thru garage windows. Second pic is two light bays on, last pic is all four bays on. I’m happy with the setup. Gives me flexibility to not have full bright all the time but can blast when I want to for pics/detailing.

I'm wiring my new 22x38 garage next week. I want these single tube lights! How many would you recommend for a 22x38 garage with 12' tall ceilings. I assume normal 110 power? In a box or just hang the wire out and hard wire later?

Depends how bright you want it but honestly we have an engineered app if you send me your plans and output can be calculated. Probably 6-8. 13k lumens per and yes 110. Plug can come out the top and just plugged in or can come out the side or can be flush mounted direct wired. Pendant mount, flush mount, or hanging down via aircraft wire are all options. Also will have an option for occupancy sensor. 7 yr full warranty on every part not just the structure but the led and driver. They not only look amazing but it is a tank of a light. One of the highest efficacy ratings in led and won’t deteriorate over time. Still finalizing pricing on the garage version but will be in the $300-$400 range. It is nothing like a HD $99 light. You are comparing apples to oranges in led output, efficacy and performance.
I used a lot of recessed cans and put 75 watt eq LED down-lights in them. Not a single hot spot or cold spot. A lot of labor that I did myself and I like the clean look. Having a 7' x 16' mobile work platform at perfect height made the job easy.

I would like to do recessed can lights, but they are against building codes unless you have a firebox on top of them which usually makes them run hot and overheat. On top of that, you end up in each light $175-200 per recessed can which gets really expensive compared to the fluorescent lights available.

You can get them with approved "IC" or insulated ceiling ratings that don't require a firebox. This risk is further reduced by using LED bulbs which do not get anywhere nearly as hot as they use about 25% of the power of halogen or incandescent bulbs.
