Default Carbon fiber defects

Hi folks,

Wondering if anyone has experienced odd defects with their carbon hoods (or any other large carbon part)? Defects such as discoloration, spotting, hazing? Anything that seems to get worse over time for example? I've come across a 2RS with that type of problem recently and wondered if it was a one off problem or something wider.

That’s airpocket where the resin and fiber did not bond together well with the clear coat.

It should absolutely be under factory warranty.

Every 2RS ive seen has it including my own. All in that exact spot, Also some have it on Roof. Ive seen from the size of a silver dollar to the size of a basketball. Sadly nothing you can do unless you want to wet sand and risk re spray

I hope the quality holds up on the Chinese made carbon. I know some of the exterior carbon trim pieces are made there. Not sure about the hood and roof?

Someone who is familiar with carbon construction mentioned it didn't look like high quality work based on your pic.

My buddies 2RS has this issue and he is getting a new hood, unfortunately non painted like current weissach and there is some issue with having it VIN matched/engine code matched.

FWIW, my weissach gt3rs hood does not have any noticeable defects.

..for parts on their "halo" car. I don't like to subscribe to the notion that because it's made in China it has to be junk, but here's an example where maybe the accountants needed to be shown the door of the meeting room!

And this is cold setup, no pressure CF fabrication. You do not get voids like that hood in a pressure/temp drawn autoclave.
What you do get from cold setup is low density yield resulting in CF that yellows soon in the future (Ferrari Scuderia intake/plenum recall).

I believe I saw Porsche were charging $18k for this Weissach option...Have profits become so important that it comes to this.... smh
