Summer tires on cars manufactured in the winter
Those of us who live in snow prone areas are probably aware that summer performance tires are subject to cracking when driven at temperatures near or below freezing. So how does a new car like a GT3 get manufactured in the winter with R compound tires (MSC2) without the tires being being exposed to sub freezing temps? Winter overnight temperatures in Germany are typically below freezing.

Customers that take European delivery in the winter are required to have winter tires installed for driving in Europe. Porsche has a loaner tire program for these customers. Cars that are being shipped only will have summer tires installed. I guess they figure that driving the cars onto the transports will not damage the tires. Here is another thought, new tires have softer rubber and are thus more playable than aged tires on the car that harden over time.
