Unexpected GT3 delivery
991.1 and 991.2 C4S owner. 991.1 was my first 911, and I loved it. Upgraded to a .2 when I got initially smitten by the power surge of the force induction power plant, but the sound and thrill of that engine left me wanting to go NA again.
Been in the market for a GT3 for a few years, but as I refused to play the ADM games (or pay over sticker for used), I was starting to lose hope. I wanted a GT3 as my "dead guys" car, which meant the 6-speed manual for me. Additionally, while a part of me do think wings are cool, the wingless GT3/R are so much more to my liking. This week my luck changed - got a call from my dealer on Tuesday morning. The gist of it was "I've got a GT3 Touring, just the spec you want, brand new. Available now. Calling 7 people after you, do you want it?". Confirmed it was MSRP and I was all over it. It was indeed just the spec I wanted. Not a crazy color (chalk), touring package in black, PCCB, front lift, ext range fuel tank, carbon fiber buckets (to name the bigger items). Picked it up Wednesday and drove it home, and all I can says is WOW! The raw visceral nature of this car has blown me away. Suddenly my C4S felt like a subdued/tame ride. I've never driven a GT3 before, but deep down I knew I'd love it. Put 50 miles on it yesterday, working very hard to resist the temptation to wring it out. I could keep singing the virtues of this beast, but in reality I've only done ~100 miles in it so far. I am smitten.
Unfortunately don't have a lot of great pictures of it yet, so the one I snapped at the dealer at pickup will have to suffice for now. Weather conditions here aren't ideal for driving it right now, to say the last. In fact I had to winch it up my driveway to get it home.
