Default Carbon Clutch for R

After quite a long time, a Carbon Clutch for the R is becoming a reality. Weight savings is approximately 18 pounds and will, of course, improve engine response.

Will it be similar to other CCC in terms of operation?

Do not know cost yet. Always go for the best possible component first.

How will this work? CGT carbon clutch is super finicky and is a costly disaster to replace.

The CGT was ceramic not carbon. What I am doing will be no more difficult to replace than the standard clutch, It will, however, cost more (but only a fraction of the cost of the CGT ceramic clutch). Carbon will be a bit more "finicky" than a standard organic clutch but, again, less so than the CGT. In any case, the question is how much 18+ pounds of rotating weight savings is worth to you. For a car such as the R in particular, especially in light of its ethos, I think it is worth it.

FWIW, I’ve driven a triple plate carbon clutch (the only thing that would hold 800+ ft-lb of torque) and it was just a tiny bit finicky. A little more revs and a tiny bit more slip, it’s very smooth.

I wouldn’t hesitate to try one. I don’t have an R though but would try on a GT3 Touring if compatible (eventually).

I am very interested. Thank you for your diligence. I can’t wait to hear more about it.

Any update on this? I'm looking for an upgrade for my 991.2 tuned Carrera T which has the same OEM clutch as the 911R (Part 9P1 141 117)

Quite a bit in my book.
