2018 GT3 Sales and Re-sales--What's Up?
I have a 2012 911 GTS Aero Cup purchased used a few years ago. Sold my 1993 RS America after 16 years of enjoyment, guess I should have kept that. Have been looking at the 2018 GT3s available----was shocked that there are almost 200 for sale. As mentioned in other threads, there are no longer allocations available for 991.2 GT3s. How many 2018 GT3s were sold? Of course all of these cars are being sold with ADM or well above MSRP. It is interesting that most sales are dealer sales, rather than private sales. I suspect that more TT and TTS are sold than GT3s. but less than half the number of those from 2018-9 are on the market. Appreciate any thoughts you folks have on what is going on with 2018 GT3s? Thanks.

A lot of people just want to say they have had the latest GT car. No interest in really using it for it's intended purpose. Sort of a high dollar catch and release program.

As long as there are buyers at ADM, the cars will sell. There won't be 2020 GT3s, they might come in 2021 and the frenzy to buy them will re-occur, so it is likely that they will command ADMs in 2 years (the 992 version). It's simply Supply and Demand at play, the GT3 and GT3RS are bargains compared to their competitors, and they have better resale value.

I think most of the GT3 are traded in when the owners have the RS coming in. It is win win for both the dealers and the VIP owners. They always get the GT3 to drive for a year or two and trade back to the dealer to get the RS.

It's the way Porsche stages cars. First the GT3, then you gotta have a GT3, Then the GT3RS you trade the GT3 in on it. It's understood. Then the GT2RS, you trade the GT3RS in on it. This is the way it goes if you want the cars at MSRP.

Particularly helped that the 991.2 GT3s were made in greater numbers, with more torque compared to the .1s, with a better manual than the carreras, and with a wingless Touring version as well.
