Insurance Naming Question

Hi Everyone

I'm with State Farm Insurance and on my insurance card is says 2019 GT3. I have a 2019 GT3RS and asked if that made a difference in naming on the card. The assistant said it did NOT. I find that rather odd as they are different cars with different price points. Wondering if this is the case with anyone else with State Farm or (like I assume) the assistant is incorrect and I need to have everything changed.

Says GT3 instead of GT3RS???

Mine says it's a Carrera

I had the same problem with my 993 with State Farm. Came up as a C2 but it’s a C4. Apparently the VIN decodes to something more generic in their system. Agent said it does not matter as long as VIN is correct. YMMV.

makes sense. the assistant probably is sick of me since I asked if it could be changed to the correct naming.

I wouldn't worry about it.

My BMW "1///M" shows as BMW "M1" on my insurance card - clearly the latter would have commanded a much higher premium :)

And FWIW, my Macan Turbo shows up as a "Porsche Macan Wagon" on my DMV registration...

At the end of the day, VIN trumps all.

ur premium is not based on model name but by the VIN

Why do you want it changed?

Because I assumed GT3 and GT3RS were different cars so I wanted it changed to the correct car.

My BMW M2 was listed as a M240i for the first 2 years of ownership with USAA. They explained that there system doesn't get updated very often and that all that really matters in that the VIN is correct because they will use that information if the car is damaged, stolen etc in the claim process.

My GT2 RS shows up as a "PORSCHE NEW PANAMERA"

Same with me on my 991 GT2RS, and was totally surprised thinking DMV made a mistake. Then checked and verified VIN is accurate, car and title. Not sure where the error is but left it as is since the VIN matches both on the title and the car.

Drive safe,
GT3RS-Fan1

mine shows as 911 no specific model

My GT3 showed up as 911 Carrera but as other's have said it goes by vin, not model name. I had it changed to GT3 per my OCD

My Touring is almost here and USAA has given me quotes of $170/month using 2000 miles per year, $500 deductibles but their VIN decoder states this as a 2019 GT3 RS
When I run the same online USAA quote as GT3 without submitting the VIN, it results in $50 less per month.

Spent an hour on the phone with 3 different at USAA and Mooty is right , they are all going off the VIN.
I even submitted dealer paperwork stating it as GT3 with a final MSRP far lower than just a Base GT3 RS, but no go.
After decades of being faithful, perhaps it is time to search the open market

Is $170 per month higher than others are paying in AZ - anyone got a lead on auto insurance deals ?
Thank you

Before jumping ship on USAA you might want to reach out via email to one lf the folks in leadership. I am sure they will fix this issue. Had a similar problem with my M2, but it helped me versus hurting me.
