Default Whats up with my car?

My car intermittently plays a warning chime on the freeway. Both speed limiters are set to inactive. Is the chime for exceeding the speed limit or what?

Does it happen at a particular speed?

Any message on the dash?

Doors and frunk and decklid are closed tightly and seatbelts fastened?

It seems to happen at around or above 65-70 but it varies. There is no message on the dash and seatbelts and doors are secure.

The last time someone complained about random chimes, it turned out to be getting text messages on his phone.

Thanks but not the case here. I had just driven the car out from the dealership for the first time and my phone was not connected with the car.

If it definitely wasn't from your phone (text message, Waze, whatever) and it wasn't one of the two speed alerts, then the only other thing that comes to mind is a feature in the nav system that can notify when you approach locations where there are services in range. You can configure it for hotels, gas stations, ATMs, etc. I tried it a long time ago and I turned it off on the same day because it was so annoying, so I don't remember exactly what the audio notification sounded like. Maybe it made a chime sound. It think it also had some text on the screen when it triggered.

I had my backpack on the passenger seat and I’m wondering if that could set off a chime for the passenger seat belt.

I set a backpack on the passenger seat all the time without triggering any chimes - but that's a good theory to test. I'd pay attention not only to any dash warning lights but also whether the passenger airbag off indicator light (above the rearview mirror) is on or off.

You can set Limit (speed) at which a sound is played. I think you set it in the instrument cluster config.

I have it activated to know when I drive over the allowed speed in city's.

This. It’s buried in some menu (I wasted an hour getting all my settings the way I wanted them).

I now realize that the OP wrote "Both speed limiters are set to inactive." so now I back out of the room backwards with my head low, mumbling: "Forgive me, forgive me, forgive me"

He thinks they are deactivated, but I bet they are not.

Yes they are inactive. It's the first thing I checked and I checked them more than once.

attach the passenger's side seatbelt and see if it stops
