Default Finally! Checkout my new (to me) GT3

Hi Folks,

Sharing a pic and info on my 2015 GT3. Option sheet attached as well

(not my garage)

Highlights:
- 3,300 miles
- California car
- Sport Chrono
- Ceramic brakes
- Front axle lift
- Adaptive sport seats

First Impressions
For context, my previous car was a 997.1 CS4 MT with X51 power kit. Drove only crap cans and people movers before that. I've only done a 45 minute semi spirited drive.

First thing, the GT3 is obviously a much more capable car than the 997. I could feel this immidiatly as turns that felt fast (I could feel the tires and steering working) on the 997 don't feel like anything at all in the 991 GT3,turn-in is super eager. At slow speeds the PDK still feels wierd to me, not as smooth as an automatic and not as engaging as a manual. The ride is not harsh at all and I find the car abosorbs bumps in crappy roads just fine for my taste. Below ~5K RPM the GT3 is a super composed, civilized GT car. Over ~5K RPM the engine comes alive and I get a totally different sensation of sound and power.

It's a cliche but this car really wants to be driven hard. I do miss the engagement I felt with the 997 both because of the MT but also another cliche: "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than drive a fast car slow" not that the 997 is "slow".

One question for the group
I hear a strange sounds when the engine is at idle and PDK engages first gear. It goes away once I'm over 5 MPH or so. Is this normal? Have poeple experienced anyting similar?

Thanks all!

Congrats I like the contrast with the black headlights and the black wheels.

The noises are normal.....trust me...I question the tranny/engine sub 10mph....but once the car is warmed up and in its happy range it sounds perfect.

Lightweight flywheel at idle creates some chatter.

That looks like the flooring in my cabin, nice garage!

Absolutely normal what you’re hearing... Don’t feel bad, after finding my 16 RS nearly 2,600 miles away on the west coast, getting the PPI competed w/ positive results, then flying cross country...having never been in a GT car (all Turbos in the past), imagine my absolute shock when I heard what sounded like really bad news (exactly what you’re hearing). I soon was educated by a Porsche technician why and what I was hearing...I think he said “you’re almost driving a race car...” ding, ding, ding lightbulb turning on.
Your GT3 was a great find!!!! Beautiful, low mile, well optioned example....I hope you have a blast!!!!

the very first thing i did when i got the car was took it to dealer to ask about the noise lol
"it's a race car it's all normal"
had a buyer came check out the car and thought there's some problem with all the rattle and clatter, absolutely hilarious lol

Thanks all for the help and kind comments on the car and garage (wish that garage was mine as well). Cheers!

It's part of the 'character' of the car. Many, including myself, enjoy the sounds as part of the overall 'experience'.

Congrats!
