Swap RS for GT3 Manual?
#61
Also, Waxer is right... Boxster Spyder is epic road car for enjoying a manual.
If I were gonna spend more time on track and could have 2 Porsche GT cars, I think I’d have a 991 (either flavor) GT3 RS for track and my 981 Spyder for the street.

Answer in a word. No. And....Another thought. Buy a nice used Miata or S2000 with a 6 spd for the few days you hit the track per year. Just as fun, less to insure and MUCH less to repair and your GT3 won't take the "its been tracked" hit in value.

Would I trade a .2 RS??- Nope. You would be leaving Money on the table.

That’s why I suggested what I did

I don’t daily drive the RS , but I do drive it often, sometimes to work and when the weather is good. Typically 8 months out of the year. I have about 7,000 miles in two years.
I find that in the city I simply don’t get the feel I had with a manual. I miss the downshifting.
Is driving at slower city speeds more exciting with the manual? My guess is yes! Not to take away from the RS, it is indeed special. Thus, I am torn.
I am curious though above the value currently, is a straight swap a good deal? It seems so.

I was in the same boat. For the same money or less I could have had a .1 RS.
It came down to this: you can tune the manual’s suspension and tires to have a similar feel to the RS’s suspension but it will be hard to replicate the feeling of exiting a corner in second gear, WOT, clutch and and slam the gear lever into third, WOT again, then brake and rev match as you slam it back into second for the next corner entry... it’s just not possible

If this was like in my case, your first GT sport car than PDK is the choice as it has that hi-tech videogames feel when you use the pedals, many times i am just playing up and down with the gears, it’s so nice to have that exact instant shift.
PDK Pros:
Feels more exact more clear.
In one lane roads and heavy traffic PDK is better for overtakings.
Even in auto if you learn how to play with throttle you can get from 7 gr to 3 or 4 veary easy with distinc push of pedal. Full down you get 2 gear even if you are above 80 km/h.
In auto when a heavy braking happens and car slows to almost a stop you hear some kind of crackles but much more nicer than AMGs.
On >7-8 hours road trip first 100 km you will be in Manual M, but after 2 hours PDK in Auto Mode for sure.
As you already experience this in 1.RS then you should go with the manual or stay 1 year raise some more cash and go with the 2.RS(my plan)
