How I learned to love eggplant aka John's intro
Greetings Rennlist,
I have enjoyed reading the posts for the past couple of years, really helps the day pass when things are slow at work. Finally got my new ride and figured it was time to join up and share my journey.
My first Porsche experience was my brother’s brand new 944, black on black…I can still smell the leather and remember the feel of raised insignia on his headrests. I was 17 and hooked and broke. Over the years I have owned Corvettes, M3’s, a few Ninjas and R1’s but they couldn’t scratch the Porsche itch. Timing and finances never seemed to coincide for me to make it work until my 50th birthday. My Dad (RIP Pops) decided to put a really fat down payment on a lightly used Basalt Black 2014 GT3 and so I had the pleasure of cruising around South Texas in it. I ran across RL while looking into mods for the .1 and have been reading ever since. As much as I loved my .1, especially the sentimental value of it, I really wanted to spec my own and to add the FAL. As more info came out about the .2, the decision became a lot easier to stomach and I sold the .1 in Oct 17 as I secured a .2 allocation with a DEC 18 delivery. Settled in for a long wait and contacted Nick and Anthony at NS2 to work on the specs. I really liked Jimmy D’s stealth Black and was going to copy his and add a decal set until my wife caught me surfing thru PTS cars. She really liked Gulf Blue and was cool with me spending 12 k on the paint job, so 24 hours later a build was submitted. Unfortunately, it was rejected so I took the same design elements and put it on a Chalk car. Looked great so I was set until I checked RL one morning to find the PTS window was open again! In the interim from the Gulf Blue car I saw Arnaud Taquet’s Viola thread and knew that was the color for me if I ever got another shot at PTS.
It was built in Oct 18 and arrived first week of Dec to Houston. Quick trip to my dealer at Porsche OKC and off to Superior for PPF/detailing. Due to work commitments, I couldn’t pick her up until yesterday which worked out well since today is my birthday. The drive from OKC to San Antonio was a great way to celebrate! I am ecstatic about how the car turned out and want to thank the folks at Porsche OKC, especially my SA Britton, who really made the whole experience smooth and special. Superior Concepts executed the detailing to perfection. Nick and Anthony’s visualizations really helped me fine tune what I saw in my head. Appreciate you all!
Everyone has been really complimentary of the car so far but some of the comments/questions have pleasantly surprised me. I expected to get comments on the wing end caps which are replicas of my US Army Airborne Wings. I retired from the Army after 20 years of service including 3 years in combat. The best parts of my career involved assignments to Airborne units, so it was only fitting to personalize my ride with them. I have been asked if I went to LSU (West Point), like the Vikings (Redskins), or the Lakers (Go Spurs). Okay, enough talking, lets get to the pics!

Love your car and the thought you put into it. Also great to hear your story.
Btw, not too many people spec the painted vents w/ deviated stitching ($1700 option), but it's one option that I certainly enjoy.
Previously I thought it was overpriced....now I think it's worth it.

LOVE IT! Really like the personalization you have done. I am fond of yellow stitching with dark colors- it's one of the best looks and I like the optional stiching you've chosen too!
I've marked you as delivered! Enjoy!!!
