Helloooo from Socal! A journey with my 991 GT3 Touring
Hey guys,
I've been a long time lurker on the site. I went down the rabbit hole with a 2006 Cayman S 11 years ago and haven't looked back. It's been quite a nice journey since with a 997.2 C2S coupe after the Cayman, and then a 997 GTS cab, which I currently still drive as a daily. Here's my Touring which was ordered in September, completed in November, and delivered in December. It's been quite an experience so far. Although I'd like to keep this car forever, I've learned that nothing is ever permanent. So while I'm its current caretaker, I'll have my fun and keep a running documentary for the next owner. Here she is the day after delivery, still a virgin: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9c228f8ef8.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...6246bc9c0e.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...45cc9c4f76.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...83ff91b9d4.jpg |
I hated the seating position of the LWBs so immediately I had to install the TrackSpec seat adjusters. Took about 15 minutes to install and wow, what a world of difference. The angle is still not 100% optimal for me but it's so much better than the stock position which made me hunch over a bit. I'm 5'6 about 155 lbs with somewhat broad shoulders so my shoulder didn't sit well at the stock position. The instructions for these showed that you had to remove the seats to install but I installed them with the seats in the car since I didn't want to unplug the battery and risk scratching the interior knowing by clumsy self. The trick to installing these while in the car is to use a 90 degrees Allen wrench as shown, as opposed to an Allen socket on a wrench since it won't fit

I'll be honest, it doesn't sound like how I hoped it would. I've watched countless videos and listened to quite a few different types of bypass. The thing with those videos is that most of them are at WOT which all sound great but no one ever drives at WOT all the time. The craftsmanship on the piece was great, the sound was a bit lackluster. This piece is going to a new home where it'll be enjoyed and appreciated much more than here. Next set up - Cargraphics sports headers with FVD side bypass. If that isn't raw enough, I'll add cup muffler after. Will update this thread when that's in. The next order of business was to add a little flair to the exterior so I added some decals. I'm not 100% sure I like the way this looks so likely we'll see an update to this. These aren't the 3.5" motorsports decal seen on the 911r, they are 4" tall https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...89b10c1e0b.jpg |
congrats on the touring, love the spec!! I like the side decals, I would keep them... interested in sound clips with current exhaust if you have them.

Thanks for the install tip on the seat brackets, I just picked my Touring up Saturday and will be installing them on my seat next week.
Great looking car! |
Maybe unplugging the exhaust flaps would help you to achieve your desired sound level? My understanding is that even in sport exhaust mode the flaps are only open above ~ 4K RPM.
Check it out: Edit: Congrats on the car... beautiful spec! |
Thanks guys. Yeah I’ll try to get some sound clips this week when it stops raining. I did try it with the valves disconnected (permanently open) and although it was louder at the lower rpms, it wasn’t the tone I was looking for. I’m really looking forward to the side deletes since not only the tone will be more aggressive but it’ll save quite a bit of weight. Between the side muffler delete and a light weight battery, I think we should be down by about 60-70 lbs if I’m not mistaken. |
