Anyone on these musings?

- Used 2 "clicks" of oil in 3500 miles. Seems about right?

- Is varying the RPMs a "thing" past break-in? Some of these stretches are, well, looong w/o much reason to vary.

- Theoretically -- more fuel efficient to run with Exhaust Valves open?

Awesome! This has always been a dream of mine. I was considering shipping my car over to San Diego in late spring and driving all the way up to Seattle over a couple weeks - just need to figure out the logistics.

I recognize downtown Knoxville in your opening pic. What a great bunch of photos and trip. Safe travels, thanks for the posts.

Great trip, and nice pics! Had to laugh about the 911 sightings in Palm Springs; we're in Palm Desert for another few days in the gf's Airstream while the 911 waits for spring in MN. I do think Corvettes outnumber 911s, but the other night we followed a GT3 RS into the trailer park where we're staying. And the GX80 (Airstream hauler) liked the real gasoline in Texas better than the ethanol cr*p in the midwest to the tune of 1-2 m.p.g., which is 10-20% pulling the trailer.

If you make it to Bend, be sure to drive over Mckenzie Pass (HWY 242), out of Sisters (20 miles North of Bend). I drove this road in the early morning last summer, and it was epic! It's only open in the summer, so check if open beforehand.

I know another road in Eastern Oregon, near Pendleton, that's even better. Let me know if you want details.

Rain? In Palm Springs? Enjoyed some art and mid-century modern architecture. And came across this very Guards Red (?) R Gruppe car.

Dwelling is Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House (1946), made famous by architectural photograph Julius Schulman in 1947. A decade earlier, retail magnate Kaufmann commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design Fallingwater in Pennsylvania. Almost a decade later, Porsche importer legend Max Hoffman commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design his showroom on Fifth Avenue. I had the privilege of visiting when it was still a Benz/Maybach dealership. Anyone else? https://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/23/a...-a-memory.html

Have you considered how much depreciation you accumulated?

No but seriously... big, huge, congrats. im so happy to see your thread as i I also put my first 3500 miles on my gt3 during European Delivery..

-many of them at over 160mph on autobahn while headbanging with my brother who joined me on my delivery trip to heavy metal through the excellent Bose stereo,
-Some of these miles ripping through the Austrian and Italian Alps on snow and ice in March, trying to keep up with Powerslidelover.
-a few more of these miles spent chasing 700hp Paganis around Italy's lake region,
-a few more still, scaring my 93 year old Italian grandmother to death showing her launch control.
-exactly 5 miles pretending to be an UBER driver for hot women.
-And (sigh).. one of these miles getting pulled over by the Carabinieri and getting out of it by frustrating them to hell by pretending I didn't speak Italian until they gave up.
-All of these amazing GT3 miles, grinning so hard it hurt. And I'm sure youre grinning just as much.

High five to you brother... YOU... get it. hopefully your story encourages all the garage dusters (there are many OUT ones and even more closeted ones here on rennlist) to do the same.

Oh, and with your Italian flair dress, how did you get away with claiming not speaking the language.

MCM architecture and Porsche GT cars. Doesn't get much better than that! Going to Palm Springs next month for Modernism Week and am pretty pumped.
