Default GT2 or 3RS Carbon roof lighter? WP?

a bit confused, the WP comes with carbon roof, i thought magnesium roof was lighter and thats why R and 991.1 GT3RS had Magnesium not CF roof

That is true. I believe it has to do with thickness of the CF vs Magnesium....

As the densities of magnesium and carbon fiber are very similar, the weights of each roof should be very similar to the other.

Or it's just marketing...
Before AP said that Magnesium roof is almost 1kg lighter than carbon roof.

Right on. If it sells cars, AP will tell ya pizzas grow on trees. First he said paddles are for grannies. Then the godlike 4.0 mezger. Only to be bettered by the 9A1/75 months later (what is that then, Zeus??)

WP is a vanity product. Let's just admit that we checked the box because it feels good and not because we *need* to drop those whatever pounds LOL...

I agree. Thinking the paint and thickness make the difference.

Indeed, when 991.1 GT3 RS was released, Porsche claimed Magnesium was 700 grams lighter than a carbon roof. Now carbon is 500 grams lighter.

When 997.2 RS 4.0 was released with painted wing (vs clear CF on 3.8 RS), Porsche claimed painting was lighter than the clear finnish, now....

dropping weight had nothing to do with why I ordered wp w/ mag wheels. I’ll admit it was totally vanity for me. Come on it looks cool as sh.. to have it with the wheels. I will probably track a couple times a year if that.

same here, I liked the look of the carbon on the GT2 RS so I ordered it for the 3RS. It would be much more cost efficient for me to hit the gym than go the WP route to shed weight! hahaha!
