Apple CarPlay and Waze advantage: pot hole alert
Maybe everyone but me knew this, but when you run waze it tells you when there are potholes. There was a really nasty one and it was like “pothole” and I was able to keep an eye out and miss it. It’s worth using Apple CarPlay and running waze all the time just for this feature IMHO. |
Agreed. If enough people are updating the area you're in, Waze and a Valentine One radar detector are a great combination for highway driving. |
Waze/CarPlay is super nice. It's not totally perfect yet but I love it. Miss it in my Tesla.

Someone here pointed this out to me on a recent mountain run. I routinely use CarPlay/Waze now. Great warnings for potholes, police and cars on the shoulder, etc.

I have apple CarPlay/waze on all my cars except 458 and use it every time i go for a drive plus V1 Waze is also an excellent GPS as well as police, accidents, traffic, potholes, construction and roadkill!! alerts the more we spread the word to use this app, the better it becomes |

mine is old also...lots of false positives i have a Beltronics vector 940 also that's seems pretty good I should upgrade the V1 or maybe get a Uniden R3 |

Go to the Valentine One Website and there is a section where you can put in the serial number of your V1 and it’ll tell you if it is upgradable. One of mine was going off all of the time and turned out it was not current. I sent it in and got it updated and it’s way better on the false alerts or going off all of the time. Waze and V1 have really been a good combo and the Waze interface on CarPlay is great. |

On my .2 GT3, if you have waze on you phone, just connect the phone to the USB port, select CarPlay, and press Waze on your phone. Or swipe one screen to right on pcm screen and press waze icon. for anyone interested, there is a vendor on here who offers a hardware update to older PCMs so you can use CarPlay. Now have it on my older cayenne too - it’s great! i went valentine -> passport -> uniden r3 - best mobile one out right now and good price (let debate on arrows commence) |
