Nice day here so started up the GT3 after it sat for a 6 weeks to go for a drive. On start-up idling lots of rythmic loud POP...POP....POP!!! Get limp mode service warning. Shut it off and get oil level too high warning...what the heck?

Could be a battery issue but dealer will know.

All guesses. But I like Rob's guess. I'll add an alternative theory - something in the emissions system.

Can you give more information. Was the car on a battery tender? Car ran fine 6 weeks ago? What year is the car?
A bad or low battery will cause all kinds of weird electrical problems.

You can try and plug in a battery Tender and let it charge overnight and try starting the car in the morning. If it continues to pop shut it off and have it towed to the dealer.

Oil level too high? Did you do oil change since last start up?

Start it, take the oil cap in the engine bay off, let it run, put the cap back on, drive it....should work itself out.....

Was car on battery tender?

Depending on temps and storage location, rodents chewing on wires could be another cause. Your symptoms sound exactly what happened with one of our cars that sat for 2 months. Squirrels decided that all the delicious pecans our trees provided was not enough, and they wanted room and board; camped out in the engine bay. Apparently, they chewed on a wiring loom while they were there...T

OK, went for a drive and all was good. Had it out 1.5 hours putting it through the paces. No, I did not have battery tender hooked up.

My '15 did the same thing last week. Sounded really weird. Limp mode. After about ten miles on the highway pulled off, shut it down for a couple of minutes and restarted. All fine. No message, full power.

Sounds like your battery was low. Do you have the original battery? Might be a good idea to have your battery tested. Many places will test the battery for free.

If the cars goes into limp mode maybe one can expect an error code?
