I counted at least 18 front and rear suspension bushings that went from rubber to monoballls or full metal, in my 996 GT3 this upgrade made the car drop lap times everywhere. The .1RS and .2 GT3 still use rubber bushings in these 18 points.

Downforce difference is big too, the new .2 RS is the Porsche street car with the most downforce, close to 1000 lbs at 186mph.

All these diferences can only be appreciated at high speed on a racetrack. If the car is intended for street use and occasional track days, a manual GT3 Touring or a 911 R are the ideal choice.

Brakes cooling was also updated for the new RS.

... and the RS can fit fat tires under the stock fenders.
Great post. Thank you.

I completely agree with this reference to the R8 but it wasn't until I drove the GT3 that it became more evident.

Was thinking of being a smart ***.

I'd take a GT3 for the streets. GT3RS if you plan to track. Gt3 probably quicker and more practical for day to day use (less bling / wing etc.)

I owned both .2GT3 and now .2GT3RS. This is an excellent summary. I would add the RS gets way more attention. Close to Ferrari.

The RS sounds also racier from the cockpit. Thinner rear carpeting, gorilla glass, cool noises/resonances from the side mounted intakes and titanium exhaust.

I have owned both (the 991.2 GT3 was a PDK in full disclosure) and my honest feedback is that the GT3 is a better car for the street. The RS is an amazing car and I plan to keep it for a long time but it comes with a lot of attention and is not as practical. If you can have both then that's the best solution and if you are a track rat then the RS is the better choice but for street use I miss the GT3. I would have got a manual but that was not an option due to timing/allocations etc.

Not where I track - many RS on the track at Area 27 (area27.ca). One day last year there were SIX .1RS on the same day. Looking forward to getting my .2RS and tracking it too.

I agree on street and still wondering for my 10 events year on track, not at the crowdy Ring, if i still need to wait a virtual elephant appearing in my rear mirror at 150mph sitting on my rear

if i'd smoke maybe 2 bongs could do better dreaming different coloured animals

on some of us must be the Janis Joplin effect

i see you saved 40k for lebanon Ring like tracks

but i am referring to the other >10k .1/.2 RSs around the world all of them on very hi speed tracks all pushed at their limits indeed

very few will know what that wing is needed for but nice to have it there you never know
