James, I'm having the R's installed Monday and will be trying them out at Thermal Saturday. I'm running -2.7 on all four corners. Do you think that is enough camber?

That sounds like a good start on the camber.
Were you out at Thermal today? I just got here (Sat night) and will be here tomorrow.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Will be out there Jan 26. One day at Thermal with Drake and then TT with PCA SDR at CVR on Sunday. So will have an opportunity to compare the R's with Trofeos and SC2 times at both tracks under similar conditions.

Anyone have tire pressure recommendations for the R? Are they the same as the SC2? 30-32 hot?

I read somewhere that PAG discontinued sanctioning the official use of the R for the 2RS.

Said it was not a proper tire for the 2RS.

Anyone heard, or know, the same?

I have not. I had the tires installed at Porsche San Diego, so I would think if there is something official like that my SA would have advised me.

We ran front 2.2 bar (32psi) & rear 2.5 bar (36psi) hot pressures per Manthey's recommendation. The tires seemed to like it there throughout our first track day with them.

$4000 for a set is nuts. How long will the R's last? Anyone have a clue?

Probably as long as the regular Cup 2s... same compound underneath the super sticky rubber which you get what... 1-2 days out of. Everyone knows the Cup 2s heat cycle out before they lose all of their tread. For less price you can get more performance out of Hoosiers.

Hmm, $4000 to improve your time by a second or so if that. Out of my financial league.

Thank you for this info. Will see how things go tomorrow at Thermal. BTW, price is a little less than 4K, try $3,300. Still super pricey no doubt. Hoosiers are cheaper but a PITA because you need new wheels ( 19 inch) and for me there are clearance issues with PCCBs. Hopefully the price will come down over the coming months.

Ran the Twin Palm configuration today at Thermal. I did not break my PB on the Cup 2 R vs Trofeo Rs but temps today were at least 15 degrees warmer. I only missed by .2 seconds. There were two .2 GT3s that I was chasing, one on full racing slicks (2 seconds behind) and the other on Hoosiers (.7 seconds slower). Considering they were probably better drivers than me the Sport Cup Rs performed pretty well. I put almost 100 track miles on them today with 4 heat cycles, so the sticky compound is probably gone. I will see how they do tomorrow at Chuckwalla.

Tested the Rs at Chuckwalla and had a ton of oversteer issues with the different recommended tires pressures. I would NOT recommend 36/38 hot pressures. I think maximum 32/34 hot, so pretty close to SC2 pressures of 30/32. The side wall of the tire seems to be firmer than the SC2. Wear was even with -2.7 front and back. No chunking if the shoulders in the rear. I'm giving them one more trial based in the lessons learned. If they are not substantially faster I can't justify the high cost.
