Roof wart removal
Hi,
I loathe the mandatory roof warts that come on the 991.2 generation in the US (but not the rest of the world). It has been established on other threads, that the one and only function of the roof wart is for XM/Sat radio, which I don't care about. As I plan to keep my .2 GT3 for at least a decade, I plan to have a local shop remove the wart, fill in the space, and paint it body color, (along with the other new black bits on the .2 GT3).
The only unknown is whether or not this might cause the car to throw some kind of error code because that antenna wart is now missing.
Anyone know?

I admire your commitment. I’m no fan of the wart either, but far less brave than you.
I can’t imagine you’d get any meaningful error code without the wart. Maybe relocate the XM antenna to some other unobtrusive location where the XM still works (even if reception is not quite as good). No reason to kill XM if you don’t need to.

You are lucky that your wart comes in the color of your body color. For the PTS folk, the wart comes in gloss black. Rather than having the wart removed (I too am not as brave), I am going to have it replaced with an OEM antenna painted to match the body color. Looking forward to seeing your modification come to fruition.

Just FYI, this can be done under warranty by your dealer

I’m in the minority. I like the black wart on my PTS GT3. Goes with all the other black bits on the car. Also makes the car look more futuristic to me. However, I do understand all your frustrations.

I thought I would hate mine, but I agree with you. I had planned to paint it or replace with a painted plug, also paint the lower mirrors and side skirts but now I have seen it all in person no desire to do so.
