Curious about both why and how? All Porsche factory delivered US cars I’ve seen on here in the last few years have the front plates taped, so no concern about drilling...regardless how did you facilitate production of the sticker? Did they let you know the plate number in advance, or did you source a local vendor to do it after delivery?

It it was done by the clear bra company in Leipzig day after delivery.

You can find more details here in my Europe delivery blog: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...very-blog.html

Rennline has a tow hook plate mount. Sale on now too.

I think I'll go Carbonio when the time comes. Not a fan of the off centre tow hook mounts.

I have one similar to the Carbonio on my GT350 and I think it looks great if one must run a front plate. Way cheaper than Carbonio however they don't make one for Porsches.

Will provide as soon as I start setting it up. I had looked into it a few months back. Highly reputable service , around 7k. by sea 3 weeks.
Looking into air freight. May be around 10k.
When compared to business class flights to Europe ...along same price.

not my first move to Switzerland...we moved in 2009 and back in 2013. But I had not taken a car.
Also...if the car is 6 months old minium ...it counts as household goods as part of move. Don’t pay 8 % import tax.

I had the standard factory method of sticky back velcro. I was thinking of doing the same with U.S. plate for some temporary needs, but the U.S. plates are of course wider than the bumper and a little concerned about wind-fetch? Anyone actually tried velcro with U.S. plates?

I can vouch for the Euro Delivery tag at autobahn speeds.

Yes, it works. I use this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006RSP1/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006RSP1/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

...tens of thousands of miles and at highway speeds.

You can roll the plate on a basket ball or soccer ball to get it to conform with the shape of the bumper.

The plate is made of tin (I think) and bends easily and will deform if you take it off quickly or frequently. I kind of like that effect... similar to a patina on a survivor car, or well worn driving shoes. if it's a little bent, it has a story to tell.

Another option is to send picture or scan of your plate to your favorite paint protection film company and ask them to make you a sticker. Might even be able to find an Avery label sticker (in clear form) to do the same job.

Has anyone used a Rennline tow hook mount on a 991.2 GT3? I can only find pics of 991.1 GT3s with the Rennline tow hook mount.

Yes, I'm using the rennline mount from my 991.1 on the 991.2 without issue.

I’ve heard New Car Dealers in California must attach the front plate effective January 1, 2019, so I’m curious if the natives are restless. And I’m not sure if bolt on brackets will satisfy DMV vs. drilling the bumper.

Two plates are not new; the DMV holding the Dealer accountable to install plates front and back is what’s new.

Larry at Mower Deck Axle Co. was the first to make a front license plate frame that used the front toe hook mounting point and his all machined alum assemble is very well made. I have been using his product on my cars for at least ten years and it satisfies the front license plate law while not drilling any holes and can easily be removed to screw in a toe hook or to put the plug back in for a clean look at car shows.

Curious / sad to hear this regards to new car purchases/the DMV depending on how tightly it's enforced, as if you are buying from a dealer you don't need to deal with the DMV

Feels like half the state right now currently drives with no front plate, and 90% of cars once you get to sports cars in SoCal... knock on wood cops seem to have bigger issues for the most part than front plate fix it tickets
