Default 4 Way Seats vs Adaptive 18 Way Seats

I have a question that should be easy to find the answer to but I've been unsuccessful thus far. On the new 991.2 GT-3, are the Sport Seats Plus (4 -way) the same as the Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18 - way) but for all the electrical adjustments with the Adaptive seats? In other words, are the side bolsters the same and does the 4-way have the extended bolsters on the seal backrest that the 18 way have?

TIA for your help

Yes, but some of those things move on 18 way. I suggest a dealer visit to test seats. I ended up LWB, but 4 way was a close second. 18 way provided no benefit to me personally but some people like the extra adjustment. The one thing I did not factor in which I should have is that unless you can open the door really wide, it’s hard to get in with LWB. Probably should have done 4 way. Oh well. Someone will have a used set for me eventually.

Nick Murray claims 18 ways have more padding than 4 ways and are more comfortable. Check out his YouTube channel.

Being short with broad shoulders, 18 ways are much more comfortable than 4 ways. The 4ways were made for tall slim Germans, not for short fat Americans. 😎😎

I choose 4 ways over 18 ways for my GT3. Less weight and faster fore/aft manual adjustment. 4 ways were comfortable for me. 6'4" 260 lbs.

4-ways have the same extended side bolsters as the 18-ways. I have the 4-ways in my car and find them very comfortable.....better than the 14-ways I had in my previous '14 C2S. YMMV.

Thanks everyone for confirming what I thought...now if I can only decide if I'm willing to get rid of what I think is a perfect 2008 GT-3 for a new one!

I would agree, I have had several GT3's and Carrara S with both 4 way and 18 way seats and could not find a comfortable setting on either for my back. On the other hand the sport buckets fit great. Currently my wife and I have them in a 987 Spyder which we have had for 7 years and driven all over the country. We are both in our mid seventies and I have some significant back issues but the Sport buckets just seem to be perfect for both of us in the low slung cars. Now getting in and out is something we should sell tickets for.
As a guide I'm 5'9" and 150 and my wife is 5'2" and slim. As an aside we have the 18 way in the Cayenne and they are perfect in the SUV sitting position where your legs drop more. If I were to get another Porsche Sports car sport buckets are a MUST no exceptions

I own all of them. For an everyday car 4 ways are fine.

I do agree about LWB seats being so well design and comfortable, which at first seems to be strange. The same goes for foldabe that I have in my 997 GT2 ClubSport, both gives you perfect position. If by chance anyone is in the market for LWB (lightweight bucket) aka 918 Spyder I might be able to help. DM for details.

As car dealers like to say “there is an *** for every seat”, as we are all different follow the advice of another poster and go down to dealer and try them all. Not just sitting for 30 seconds but driving.
I can’t tell you which is best but the advantage of the 18 ways is the ability to adjust cushion and seat back bolsters in many different combinations. A great option on those longer drives or switching drivers.
lastly you must understand how the bolsters on 18 ways work: at their widest they are at a 45degree angle same as 4 ways but when brought in they don’t move in at the same angle but pivot from their base to an almost vertical position giving you the feel of a race bucket.

I hate the 18s as I can not get comfy. Wife had no problems. GT2 buckets I really like. 918 buckets ok but no go for me in my GT3 as I need to use back for trips and my dogs and they don't fold. Need to try em as others have said

4 ways in my incoming 3 likely make car worthless. Don't care

Love my 18-ways. Put 30k miles on car with wife, and not once has she complained. But i am sure 4 ways would be fine too.

I really wish they'd work for me but no go
