Default OT - The Quail 2019 at PB Concours

I am planning to mark off a bucket list item and go to Pebble for the week in August. Would like to do the typical things, like the McCall's Hanger event, and The Quail.

I emailed The Quail for tickets and they emailed back and placed me in a lottery process. Has anyone been in the lottery and if yes do you know the odds, i.e., will most everyone get a ticket or is this a 1 in 100 type of thing?

Thx in advance!

I haven't heard of anyone not getting a ticket through the "lottery." When they announce ticket sales they added an even more expensive option to bypass the lottery so if you're nervous about it, you can pony up. Last year it was about a 50% bump to bypass...

I'd work on your housing options, you tend to "find" tickets or creative ways into events if you're in the right area or have enough friends with access...

Just tell the parking ****’s you have an appointment at the Porsche Zentrum, park in their lot, visit Zentrum, then walk across the street to the Quail. Not that I’ve done anything like that but.... (just don’t take a souvenir gift on the way out- have some class, LOL)

I was under the impression that getting a ticket to the Quail through the lottery was a long shot and that McCall's was impossible unless you know someone.

Same. I live out here and have passed those very events the last few years.

MC Call's is easy, you can buy on their website. They tend to advertise heavily throughout spring/summer and may sell out right before the event.

They also offer a super ticket which includes Quail, limited but available!

I did Quail for 10 plus years, never had a problem, either lottery or last few years just purchase without lottery (at face value, for long timers I guess)

Lots of friends and myself included will skip it in 2019, done it enough :-) so more tix available ;-)

You should attend at least once, it is worth it!

Good luck

Quail is easy.. everyone gets a ticket, go every year. Or Montoya's method.. or as people leaving in afternoon they give away passes (I always do). Worst case, walk to the end of the fence and walk in. Not a bucket list item any longer, just do it.

Hardest part of Pebble week is finding good housing for less than $1000/couple/night and bringing the right car to drive. Going there is some ****box rental and we will scorn you badly.

The game is to drop the best car keys on the table at dinner.. if you can get one of these oldies you win. (Borrowing it for a picture is legit enough)

I'd rather attend Quail vs McCalls. Biggest thing is to try and score an invite to the rolls Royce house. that place is insanity.

agree with CJ rather Quail than McCalls (Jet Center) but again for someone who has never done it and likes planes, cars and glamour go for it

Made some calls today, confirming what has been said above:

1) Quail - the office said today that most all lottery applicants that wanted tickets (didn't decline them) were granted them last year. After the first round, the declined tickets are offered in a second round, and last year, a third round.
2) McCall's - as was stated you can purchase now, the combo tickets will be offered in Feb.

Do most of you do a hotel or a house? Any recommendations for accommodations?
Thx!

Clint Eastwoods place is by far the best experience in Carmel, IMHO- https://www.missionranchcarmel.com

However, the rooms for car week are done on a lottery basis and this is a real lottery-they don't raise their prices for the week. I believe they pick the winners next month so contact them if interested to get your name in.

The best event is the "Tour d'Elegance" on Thursday where all the Pebble Beach cars can be seen on the road. Stop by the Carmel Safeway get your coffee, croissant and a bit of lunch then drive to mission Beach and hang.

Every car competing at Pebble Beach on Sunday will be required to do this drive, police escort them and some very rare cars can be seen in motion.

Never had the inclination to go to McCalls, pics make it look like a big fashion show for the uber wealthy, but the Quail might be worth a look.
