Default Allocation with non refundable ADM - question?

i have an opportunity to grab a Feb GT3 allocation for a 15k adm, which seems to be the going rate. I am finally over the mental hurdle of paying the ADM - now dealer wants the full ADM upfront and says it’s non refundable - Feels like pouring salt in the ADM wound. For those that have paid ADM for an allocation is this demand consistent with your experience?

That is funny.

I guess it is fine as long as you build the car with him and get the Commission number ect so you know that you are getting the car

Seems normal. You're speccing the car to your tastes and they want some level of commitment.

No, not consistent with my experience. I grabbed a configurable Touring allocation some months ago with a $5,000 deposit. ADM balance was paid at delivery. Now I was working with a dealer that I had a long relationship, so may make a difference.

no ADM on mine, they asked for a credit card for deposit and that was all. I have 2 more months to wait for delivery...just in time for Jersey winter snow..lol!

I would not want to use the term "non-refundable" in any context with a dealership. My dealership is generally very honest and open. It has the best General manager on the planet..

My dealer was the same but I picked an odd PTS color and spec.

None of the dealers I spoke with made such a request for a non-refundable deposit.

In most states, if not all, non refundable deposits are unenforceable.

Probably uncommon, but it wouldn't worry me as most states' Code trump dealer's policies regarding deposits.

Appreciate the feedback. I had a very positive experience with dealership on previous purchase but no ADM was involved. Touring build in common color with basic options and modest MSRP so nothing crazy dealer would be stuck with.

Don’t like seeing non refundable in any sales agreement either - it’s clearly stated as a $15k non refundable deposit in sales agreement - always believed there was no such thing as non refundable deposit in the car business but don’t know where to verify if enforceable? Not my intention but sh** happens in life and want some piece of mind in worst case scenario.

Why do u worry if you want the car pony up cash.
and make sure they give you screen shots that they really have a car .
and then give the cash.

I paid a $5k deposit and ADM was due at delivery. If I owned the Porsche store though, I would probably do the same thing and ask for the ADM up front and buy the car at sticker when it comes. Wouldn't bug me either way (OK, I would probably whine about it, but write the check).
