I get the point the OP is making however over generalizing and ‘too early to call’ judgments about the 4.0L make for poor bedfellows. The only engine with documented issues was the early 3.8L, since the fixes, the latter 3.8L have been fine and the 4.0L haven’t disappointed yet. A few oil pump issues here and there isn’t a major problem. I remember when a few of us had to change the thermostats in our 997.2 Turbo S, we didn’t say those engines were faulty then...
