Yep, I hear that the .1RS motors sitting in the garages of the speculators with less than 1000 miles are completely reliable and trouble free!

All engines are fine but I do get e sense that Porsche overdid it with the new 4.0.
Perhaps to everyone’s benefit, but not needed.
After they fixed the 3.8, the 2016 4.0’s have been very solid since, probably it would have been just fine to keep the 2016 4.0 going, as it’s well proven and solid. Certainly better then the fabled 997 4.0.

The new one is probably better, but still new, so we will see.
Porsche just needed an “all new 4.0” to leave the 3.8l disaster behind them.

Fwiw, your never-ending commentary bashing the new 4.0 motorsports engine or those that own them comes off desperate to justify an older car.

Actually... glad you finally have one coming so you can give it a rest

***There have also been confirmed reports of some engine replacements on the .1 RS but also did not hear their is an ongoing issue with that engine either.
Thanks...well at least Porsche seems to do the right thing and either catch or fix the issue.

Totally agree!!!

My 996 GT3 leaked oil, RMS. Broken transmission in less than 2,000 miles with 0 track miles. 3 diffs until I switched to a Cup diff.

My 997 GT3 RS got the engine replaced, bad crankcase. Multiple RMS leaks. 2 diffs

I skipped the 7.2 3RS, but those wore diffs, short life clutches, they did better than old the GT3s before them, but they also had runaway flying wheels.

My .1 3RS, oil changes, changed the spark plugs in advanced, it recorded misfires because I ran out of fuel (zero fuel) and still was able to start it and get it to the paddock. Zero problems, most reliable car I ever had, and I'm missing it already.

My .2 3RS feels slow, quiet, steering wheel is over assisted, it is a little too stiff, I'm having doubts of this car keeping up with my .1 3RS, have lots of data from my .1 3RS and my modified .1 Turbo S, so I'll see. So far, reliable under break-in.

My 991.1rs was dumb reliable, hell of a car and I miss the heck out of it. I didn't replace it with a .2, didn't think it was remotely worth with the relatively minor changes to the car and given that it was mainly a road car...I went with a Macca 600lt (Im not a resale hound) and have been having an insane blast with it!

Yeah, same here; I thought the 4.0 engine in the .2 GT3 pretty much addressed all the issues with the 3.8 in the .1. Haven't heard of any recent major issues yet (unless I'm mistaken).

How anyone can say a car is a monster of reliability after 8000miles inc some track miles, or "many many" miles of track use (it's a 2015/16 how many track miles can these cars really have ?! A few 1000s....and at what tempo? )
Way to early
