This reminds me of the 2014 GT3 port engine replacement program.

How so all deliveries were haulted, and no cars were released to owners. Cars in JAX were released Tuesday, and no stop action has been released. If PCNA knows of a risk, and allowing cars to drive lots of liability. Too many people guessing just to make drama. Now if there’s another engine issue that’s not good because many may decline to avoid the drama.

This looks like a part or small production issue vs a design flaw. Hopefully a tiny blip on the radar someday. Whenever my car gets here it's all good. It's winter and there's so much amazing stuff going on with Smokies for the holidays that the car would just be a distraction anyways.

Spoke to him last night. No issue on taking delivery. Car is being shipped and not held. Leads to a batch issue. He inquired what the issue was with them and they were tight lipped.

I agree Sean. It does look like a part problem. You guys should be good to go once this gets sorted. I wonder if any cars will be recalled, as this problem most likely made it into the wild before they caught it. I would think we’d hear about that shortly, if that is the case.

Sounds like a bad batch or part. **** happens but this is the best possible outcome.

Don't own a GT3 yet, but would be inclined to agree with this premise. Some products and industries are required to track and record supplier parts down to their individual manufacturing lots from the supplier's factory -- and can identify the exact end products by serial number (or VIN) that would be affected by the defective part. Porsche's manufacturing and supply chain systems are very robust -- and identifying the vehicles affected wouldn't take long. The decision on how to handle the issue would clearly take much more time.

As frustrating as this might be, far better to hold off a few months and get a SAFE car then to get one with MATERIAL enough of a safety issue that Porsche holds it.

As for the paint, it seems the white wrapping I saw on the Red one a few posts back is sufficient that paint shouldn't have any issues sitting in port for a few months.

A good detailer should be able to fix almost any issue.

not a single GT3RS has been completed since 12/7 which is very unusual. My 3RS has been scheduled for completion tomorrow since June. When I called yesterday they said my new expected completion is 12/14-12/21 and expected dealer delivery was also delayed by one week. Did not mention anything about a serious delay.
I’ll call PCNA again tomorrow and my dealer as well.
Gotta lighten the mood here...this immediately came to mind

With that said, in all seriousness, I can't wait to see your 911 once you get it

Well this strange. I checked Porsche's web site for recalls on my car. Two days ago there were no recalls. Today, the system says my VIN# is not in their system and I need to contact my dealer. My Touring was built in Sept and delivered in Oct.

So I figured it out. It turns out that the magnesium engine case gets too hot with the thermal reactors. So Porsche upgraded the chain tensioner to an oil fed system. Also, adding magical metallurgical head studs should help, but that created an issue with the lack of head gaskets on the cylinder heads. To fix this they added CAI/SEL and weak valve guides. Unfortunately, that puts stress on the IMS so they used spitballs and plastic for the coolant system and pipes. Of course they fixed the valves with finger followers, but who knows. Maybe it’s a D-chunk scoring system?

crazy thing is it doesn’t matter cause I keep buying these damn awesome machines!

Well, I’m officially a part of this delay. My SA shared over the updated schedule... exit Davisville on 3/29. Dealer inventory on 4/5.

Oh well....
