“burning” odor after driving
I have about 7000 miles on my 2018 GT3 and it drives perfectly.
I notice when I pull into the garage, after normal routine driving even, there seems to be an odor reminiscent of burning, but not really overpowering.
My other cars, Ferrari’s, don’t seem to have this and so I have keyed into it with the Porsche.
I notice a lot of heat coming out of rear wheel wells and just wondering if engine/exhaust heat affects the rubber on the tires? Maybe that is it?
Anyone else encounter this?
Thanks.

this is what i love about these cars.
the touring i have is my first gt p car, has 4k miles and it smokes sometimes, makes weird mechinical noises sometimes, smells like burning plastic sometimes..... i have fal and scrape the front lip sometimes (fal lifted and not lifted).... have taken it to the red line and shifted late....
maybe im crazy but the beauty of these gt cars is that, although they have a hefty price tag (and because of that some people baby them and worry about every noise, smoke, smell etc), at the end of the day these are not posh luxury cars with massaging seats, they are raw, street legal race cars. each one has its own identity, character, and personality. because of the unique, rough characteristics of these cars (among other reasons), there is no other car i’d rather have. i’m keeping this thing forever!

My car often smells like a campfire when I drive into the garage. The rear tires pick up pine needles off the driveway and flick them onto the mufflers - hence the campfire odor. I like it.

As others have mentioned they pick up things on the tires then flick the debris onto the side mufflers and you do get some strange smells from this depending on what has been burnt on the mufflers ..........who remembers when Porsche used cosmoline to coat the undersides of the cars ,,,that crap really had a unique smell , that lasted for years ... terrible stuff

who doesn't love the smell of cosmolene in the morning?!? it's one of my favorite parts of the day!

Exactly. It’s the cosmoline burning off. Every Porsche I have had gives off the same smell. You can really smell it after a spirited driving session. I love the smell personally - means you’re doing things right

Fast car smell.
Normal.
And Porsche stopped using cosmoline on the 991 series.
