On the other hand, I feel when the GT3 starts sliding, it often means I made a mistake.

I hadn't ever tracked a Ferrari until very recently; only 911 and cayman platforms. The first time I felt the car start sliding around, i thought, this thing is HORRIBLE. Because as u point out, that much sliding means you are about to be in a lotta trouble on a 911. Then, 2nd session, i got a little more comfortable and realized Ferrari lets you slide around very forgivingly and u make it part of the experience and part of the car control itself. I don't have enough seat time in one to feel remotely as confident as in a Porsche. But I learned to appreciate and enjoy the much different approach Ferrari has to the driving experience. And I've since owned a CS and Scud, with Speciale in my sights at some point. I'll always be a Porsche guy but the variety of one fcar in the fleet is fun. Such a different experience to anything Porsche.

Having had multiple Ferraris, Porsches, and wives I'd have to say that this sums it up perfectly. I am thrilled to say that I now have a GT3 and an even better-performing wife. Both are keepers.

Mclaren's do tend to handle "better" as far as I'm concerned, but they are quite a bit more expensive than a GTS or Gt3 often and have a carbon mono chassis with hydraulic steering...so it's bound to be amazing.

The Mac 657LT and 600LT I'd suggest handle better. The 570S, although a fantastic car, is not as planted as a GT3 imho due to its lack of tire and downforce.

Another thing to consider is the tires. Many of those venues put all season tires on their cars for more tire life, and to rent them in the rain.

Handling and Roadholding (max lateral G's) are often confused. Handling is a subjective thing that describes how a car feels (it cannot be measured objectively like Roadholding).

In my experience, nothing handles as well as a 911.

"Are there any exotics that handle better than a 991 GT car?"

Do you consider the 991 GT to be an exotic?

Truly understand that, as I am in the same boat (wife #4, who is amazing). Had a 2015 GT3, traded it for a 570 S to be my track car. Tires were too small, not enough downforce and the race mode suspension was softer than the standard mode of the GT3. It was faster in the straights (up to 20 mph faster) but lap time was 5 sec. slower (Sebring). Could not wait to trade it in for a 2018 GT3. I am now a much happier car owner. Only thing i could say about the McLaren was that it is a fun rally car for club trips, but should not be on the track.

The 600LT seems better suited to track work, but its tires are exactly same size as 570 (but they are sticky Trofeo R)

Lesson learned - marry wife #4 first, don't waste time/money on #1-#3.
Mid engine rwd exotics usually will handle better than a 911 GT car. To me the 911 just has more layers of involvement than other exotics which may "handle" better.

The 675LT is great for track work, but even compared to the GT3 it is still undertired (at least on the fronts).

That said, Porsche over-tires their cars in general.
