That sounds pretty conclusive. So, expect another round of NA and most likely MT GT3s as well.

I think someone on RL called it months ago with the same reasoning. Its still surprising to hear it from an executive, but I was more surprised by the existence of the word fettled.

Don't believe it. If the release of the 992 GTS brings close to 500 hp, they will need to get another 50 hp minimum to stay aligned, and will that keep them competitive in motorsport. Doubtful. But I hope they can pull it off.

Most likely fettled means removing more restrictions in the ECU tuning. Fettling that would impress me would be adding 6 individual throttle bodies (to replace the single one), like they have done on the new GT3R race car (550hp).

I’d love this but I wonder if borrowing tech from the Panamera hybrid s (and future 992 turbo s hybrid) would be a better route.

Hybrid+NA engine would be amazing if the weight is not too terrible.

This article is accurate, until another article comes along and opposes it.

Hybrid power seems inevitable at some point (the reason they have made space in the new 8spd PDK). Just not sure when. Since weight of the new Carrera is already up about 125 pounds over 991 without Hybrid, I can't imagine that a Hybrid 992 GT car won't be quite heavy...

For sure, but from what we know about the 918 Spyder weighing a bit over 3600lbs is that the electric motor tends to hide quite a bit of that extra bulk. I don’t hear many folks complaining about the 918 handling (but then again I don’t know many either ha) and it was a pioneer into the sub 7:00 ring times.

A 918 inspired 911 that stays close to 3500 lbs with 600hp could be quite good.

I think a NA 550hp engine is doable on the 992 GT3. Throw in some active aero and an 8 speed PDK, with a slew of other tweaks, a sub 7 second Ring time, and everyone is lining up. Porsche are masters at separating us from our money.

I guess so, but I'd far prefer a 2,500 lb car with 430hp (same power : weight).

Speaking of 3,500 lbs and 600hp, the new BMW M2 Competition with an E85 tune can get us there under $60k (with Manual). I'm actually considering one for ED (probably won't pull trigger)...

That's a complete non-statement. "We'll stick with it as long as possible". So if they determine it's not possible to stick with it for the 992, too bad. This article doesn't really say anything.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm not solely a GT3 owner simply because the car is NA. I hope it goes turbo so that the car will be easier to get for everyone, less desirable and less flippable

Hated the games and how hard the 991 GT cars were to get for non-VIPs across the board, if it has to go turbo so be it I have faith in the elves at Weissach
